Are they ok to use as flooring for the wir?

When we collect our hens we are also getting a starter kit which comes with wood shavings and I was wondering if it is ok to use this or if we should get something else.

I would say that a horsey type bedding such as Aubiose, Hemcore etc would work out better especially if you have a covered run. The poo seems to magically disappear

 

I would also be a bit worried if the wood shavings might be too dusty.

Wood shavngs are ok but not as good as woodchips or a horsey bedding

 

They won't last very long if they are small flakes and you will have to keep raking them over as they go pancake flat

 

My guessing is that the woodshavings are intended for use in the coop and not the run, in the coop they are perfect

I use them in the eglu run, but it's completely covered.

Thanks for that, I shall see if she has got anything else, I have a feeling she might sell horse bedding too.
