But they are all going for high prices IMHO......which I suppose is good for sellers but not for buyers wanting a bargain :?

That Mk1 (red eglu) you were watching went for over £250 didn't it Sandie  ?

Sha x

yes, don't forget like when I started I did not know there was a mk1 or mark2 or this forum :(

a Mk 1 yellow also went for silly money but I thought that was because it was yellow.

I would like yellow!!! It is my colour and am guessing it is vey light inside like the pink Piglu my 2 disabled girls sleep in.

Yellow are a boit of collectors items aren't they. One went off line was on ebay for £260 I was only bidder at £60 :( till it was ended early! :(

My mark 1 is on ebay because:

We had one lonely hen (Betty an elderly bluebell) so we got her 3 friends,(an araucana and 2 legbars)

She hated them!!!! and still does :(

Then as the 3 were coming up to POL we went and got 2 more hybrids from Merrydale (who are lovely) thinking that as the 2 new ones were slightly older than the 3, intros (with the aid of a rabbit hutch) wouldn`t be too bad

The 3 didn`t agree!!! and nor did Betty :(

So another eglu had to arrive quickly! :(

So we had what looked like a chicken festival of eglu tents on the lawn!!

Anyway, 4 weeks later, Betty and the hybrids are living in Gryffindor (the cube) (cube green)

The 3 pure breds are in Slytherin (the mark 2 pink eglu) (pink eglu)

So my mark 1( Betty`s house) (green eglu) is for sale on ebay.

I actually think I`ve made a mistake and should have sold the mark 2.

My green mark 1 just seems more solid somehow the door fits tighter as does the eggport door if only you could get plastic bars for the mark 1s!!! (please omlet, before Sunday, when my listing ends)

Anyway, thats why one of them is on ebay at the moment :D

:lol::lol: Naughty Rum!!!

DD had a party yesterday & when I was out retrieving her Miss Blossom decided that the roof of the (cube lilac) was a good place to be...luckily she went back into her pen rather than into the big bad world of the big girls.....though now she's got little black sisters in her pen I think she's looking at the big girls & thinking "not so scary after all!":lol: The little ones have not been let out of their run..I'm far too chicken for that yet

Well, I have just had to put the Eglu onto Ebay to pay for the new hen house that we have bought. We had three 'heavy' hens - the two original hens delivered with the Eglu (Atilla the hen and Ethelred the unroasted) , plus a Welsommer - Elsie the Welsie (we did have an Amber Star - Nugget, but sadly she turned up her toes after about 6 months). The bug has really caught us, and we wanted to get some more hens, but just couldn't fit that many large birds into the Eglu. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford a cube, so bought a wooden hen house at Frampton country show, and then bought three more hens from an absolutely fantastic breeder in Worcestershire. We bought a dark sussex (speckled Jim), a light sussex (Bob - can you see the Blackadder theme going on here) and a beautiful Colombian Black tail (Ginger - from Chicken Run). I was so impressed with the breeder that I will definately be going back there for more birds when the unfortunate time comes. We have bought from a well known 'domestic foul' seller, and were mightly unimpressed - neither girls was in great shape.

Anyway - that is why the Eglu is on Ebay - we have decided to go bigger. If anybody is interested, it is item number 180410372639 (sorry for the brief advert at the end)

Good luck with that. It still looks very shiny, and reminds me of when our (blue eglu) was first delivered in 2005!

Aww! Andrew, she's gorgeous (the chooks are pretty too  ) It is scary though isn't it - I remember my friends little boy at 2 weeks old, he's now almsot 3 and thinks our chickens ar e the best things ever :D

what he doesn't know is that his Mum and I are plotting to find a way to get them a couple of girls too ;) Her hubby is sort-of in on it but just sighs and hides in a book when we start talking about it!!

I'm so glad it's not just me then! I don't need another one yet, but in the future when we might do the broody hen and hatching chicks again, it would come in handy. Our broody box was carried in and out every day and got to be a big pain in the back. A little Eglu with a run would be much more, um, civilised. Don't tell OH though!

I have to admit I also have a fascination for the FTSE and the US dollar rate (mainly because I see some nice fabrics on my quilt sites that me wantsies and hope the rate gets better).
