jimnpaula
Traveled to Epsom to collect "4 to 6", lost count as they put them in the carriers, made my donation and then got them round to Tara's. When I opened my boxes I found we were now the proud owners of 7! (Sorry the first picture is larger than the others, I can't seem to resize them all to match. This seems to have been fixed/fixed itself.) P Edited September 19, 2009 by Guest

tara
The 7 chooks were let out this morning at 6.50 and 10 mins later they were still hiding so l left them a bit longer 1 of them was puting her head out then back in again at 7.30 they were all still hiding so l helped them to come out. They were not at all happy to have me helping them but they have since been scratching and pecking at the food.We have left them to settle and seem to be quite relaxed now but l did collect 2 eggs so far. They are doing well and l will keep you posted. jimnpaula
That's great news Tara, thank you so much for doing this for me, and it was lovely to meet everyone yesterday. Having looked at the selection of coloured leg rings I have, I think my girls are collectively going to be called the "Rainbow Girls" - a symbol of new life and the promise of better things to come. Can't wait to get them home. P

veggiemad
congratulations to mum and foster mum on your new arrivals. we got 3 ex batts a month ago and i love them to bits, they are still quite scrawny but are feathering up well and laying 1-2 eggs a day between them. 2 of them have made firm friends, the other is abit of a loner- bless her- but she was the bully in the start so i think shes made her bed! however, although she was the one that stressed me out with her pecking, i now make sure she gets extra treats for being friendless- soft or what!! you'll love them. i cant wait to be able to get a cube and hope to get 7 or so more , but am trying to resist until the spring as i've only had the eglu for a month and can't justify it to DH just yet! however- your pics reminded me how wonderful it is to rescue- good on you. I'm jealous!! have fun with them, they are great. whoops- thats was a long one - sorry!x

Hi everyone - I'm James, the DH! Cube is built - finished in the twilight after discovering I'd put the end of the run on backwards so couldn't open the door! When I see the videos of the girls "learning to live" it brings tears to my eyes. Can't wait to collect them tomorrow and bring them home. Thanks for taking them in, Tara, while we waited for the Cube to arrive. James
cluckingmad
Hi James, Well done you for persevering with the cube! We took ours apart at the week-end for a good scrub and spent several inutes with the "I know this bit goes on somewhere" conversation Ex-batts really are the most wonderful little girls - within a week or two you won't be able to remember life without them (nor will you want to), but just you wait till they have their first experience of snow! I shall wanr you know - get the camera ready...
