Ain't Nobody Here
Course you're not stupid . We've all had to ask questions here and not one of them is stupid . They should go onto layers pellets or mash once they reach point of lay, which is about 16-18 weeks. I think some people mix the two for a while so they get used to the new feed (but I may be imagining that!)

Redwing
Hiya They need to go on to growers pellets or mash (mash is basically the ingredients for pellets not made in to pellets - its is a bit dusty and there is a fair bit of waste though) Mix the growers in with the chick crumb increasing the quantity till the crumb is all gone You can keep the chicks on growers now until the spring (esp if large pure breeds) or move them on to layers pellets from about 20-22 weeks although some wait until they lay their first egg before moving them on to layers pellets
hazard
redwing they are not a large breed they are bantams
Redwing
Then put them on growers now till about 20-22 weeks or like I say there is no harm done keeping them on growers for longer unless they swing in to regular laying If you have chicks again switch them to growers at about 8 weeks of age
Patricia W
I've just moved my 2 bantams aged 18-20 weeks onto layers pellets. I mix it in with their growers pellets and will reduce the growers over the next week or so until they are completely on layers. They've been on growers pellets since before I got them at about 8-9 weeks. Hope that helps Tricia

Patricia W
Try putting it on the Free to a Good Home Thread - someone might swap you for some layers pellets. Tricia
