HiQ are running a competition to select a grid girl for the BTCC finale at Brands Hatch.

 

A friend of mine, a fellow marshal, has entered and is one of the 10 finalists. The competition is now open for a public vote.

 

Given that AJ is a marshal and, let's face it, motorsport wouldn't happen without marshals, it would be really good if she could get the opportunity to win this competition.

 

Marshalling in this country is all done by unpaid volunteers who love motorsport and want to get involved, without racing themselves. It would be good to get marshalling in the public eye because we are generally short at most race meetings and some would-be marshals may get put off because they don't know how to join or think it is an exclusive club when it isn't.

 

So please, please, please... Vote for AJ

I've voted too. I used to be a race marshall at Lydden Race Circuit many many years ago ( in my oh sooo flattering orange overalls!) spent many a cold weekend getting race drivers to line up neatly.

It was really a 2 horse race... AJ and the girl with pink hair with the numbers changing virtually every hour... and then they took the numbers down so you couldn't see WHO was in the lead

 

But the results were announced today...

 

AJ won!!!

 

She is over the moon and I am sure she will have a fantastic time this weekend. Plus she gets a dinner date with Tom Chilton.

 

The purpose of the competition was to raise awareness of their charity "Breast Cancer Care". And AJ will try to mention marshals on the TV.

 

Thanks everybody... and if you watch the BTCC this weekend, watch out for AJ.

Hi-Q raised £10,000 for the charity Breast Cancer Care last weekend at Brands Hatch.
