redhotchick
Why am I perched on the edge of the sofa giving myself a sore shoulder and a crick in my back whilst my cat is lolling around on the sofa

Valkyrie
Because you love your cat - or perhaps it's the dirty looks you get if you are in the spot where liddle moggy wants to sit that makes it not worth considering.
Joojoo
I do that all the time and creeping around trying not to disturb them. Do they care about disturbing me in the middle of the night when they are thundering up and down the flipping stairs? Nope!!!!
Groovychook
This all sounds very familiar! I frequently have a rough nights sleep from trying not to disturb the little darlings whilst they're asleep on the bed ! I have to twist into the strangest positions sometimes!! Chook n Boo Mum
Many's the time we've sat on the floor whilst the hulking great labs have taken up the sofas ..........even our vet sat on the floor feeding her pup all sorts of stuff whilst writing out a "dos & don'ts" list for her puppy club...which of course included do not let them on the furtniture, do not feed between meals except for training treats etc etc etc Sha x
Valkyrie
I well remember the pain as claws pounced on my feet - you daren't move anyway. Or the purring fishy breathed moggy licking you on the nose because mum let her come in your room before you wanted to get up. My dad used to bring me a cup of tea in the morning. The Dogmother
Biscuit loves my bed and is supposed to sleep at the end, but on cold nights, I wake up to find him snuggled in my arms. The Boy is less than amused by this, but I have pointed out that Biscuit actually lives here and The Boy only visits. The hound isn't allowed on furniture as she's usually too muddy/stinky. redhotchick
Reminds me of Simon's cat in TV dinner: http://www.simonscat.com/tvdinner.html Laughed mt head off at this! It's so true! Made funnier by the fact that Tigi was actually doing some of those things whilst I was trying to watch. Now of course I am typing with one hand, as she is lying on my other hand. Bless her
henriette
We put extra cushions on the outside chairs just incase one of the cats wants to sit out too! I borrowed a baby chair from a friend of mine before my daughter arrived with little grandson. When they had gone home I left the chair on the floor upstairs, only to find Max, our elderly pussy cat, was fast asleep in it. This happened every day. I had to return the chair to its owner, so I went to the local second hand shop and found a fully washable, beautiful soft baby chair for 3 euros (approx £3). Max is now an extremely happy puddy! Ziggy
We have two cat flaps, yet constantly have to get up to open the door to one cat or the other... They know very well how to use the cat flap, and do it all the time if they can't see us in the dining room, but if we are there they just call to be let in through the door! And each time I stand there holding the door open I say 'for goodness sake, use the bl***y catflap, who do you think you are and do you think I'm your servant??', but still I get up and go and open the door!! There is a t-shirt you can buy from those logo t-shirt places, which says something along the lines of 'In Egyptian times cats ruled as gods... Cats have never forgotten this'... How true!!
