Fur 'n' Feathers
How beautiful they are. Particularly like Ida's redness. Sort of yummy coloured
Plum
Oh thanks she is cute. They have new names now but they could change again They are very nervous of me and hide away when I do anything in the run, but are easy to pick up. When I hold them they relax and Heidi (Robyn) even closed her eyes. They don't seem interested in treats so how am I going to get them to come to me? Any ideas please My others were jumping on my knee after only having them a few days.

Redwing
Awwww Plum they are adorable If they ahve grown up with a large flock with no cuddles and treats it will probably take them a while to clock on that corn etc.. is treats Try corn or something mushy in a bowl first so they get used to the texture then try it from your hand or on the ground
Plum
Made some porridge with pellets and water, they ignored that. I'll get some different mixed corn because Pigeon and Grackle aren't that keen on present lot and just be patient and go slowly, like you say get them taking something from a bowl first. Thanks
Space Chick
When I had my first lot, I had tinned sweetcorn in water instead of mixed corn, that might be worth a try as it is softer They are gorgeous Plum
Ain't Nobody Here
Congratulations on your new girlies - they are so sweet .
Falkor
Hi Plum....love the pictures! They are so sweet looking! Tia and Maria, the silkies that arrived at my house on Saturday still won`t touch grapes My other girls think that it is some sort of crime as they shout their heads off when they see a grape go to waste! Grapes just out of reach in the silkie garden. I have just started a bag of Garvo Chicken Treat.....they ALL love it. In fact I think it looks good enough to eat myself....well apart from the little wormies.
ClaireG
What lovely girls Plum Heidi is an excellent chicken name I have the Garvo treat to and all mine go bonkers for it, they like it even more than mealworms
Plum
Yum, I've not seen that for sale. I'll have to make my own mix. Edited to say I've been down now and have a breakthrough. They have taken their growers pellets from my hand and sweetcorn, and tollerated a cuddle again They still view me with a great deal of suspicion and panic when I do anything in their run but when I sat on the step and talked to my girls they came to the end of their run and joined in the conversation. Plum
I now have histerical babies. OH takes them grapes and just chucks them at them so I have Pigeon and Grackle leaping about outside and now these two leaping at the roof of the run sending food and water flying. At least now I know they really are chickens. What chicken can resist a grape.
mostin
Such pretty girls Plum , well done. So glad they are getting to know and your other girls too . You've had your own Robin for a while, but she's Motmot now I see , where has that name come from? I knew you couldn't fight the temptation for more girlies for long . I love the way that your OH, like mine, gets very involved in the name choosing. They don't seem as keen on getting involved on the poo tray emptying though do they . Plum
Can imagine it takes a while with your lot. Did well with the babes tonight. I picked Motmot up and sat her on my lap she fell asleep probably to escape my singing Eider came up to me and ate some grass off my leg. (I know how to spoil them). She let me stroke her chest. Then Motmot got up quietly and strolled off, no panic. So I am really pleased. Some pictures from the weekend- I set up the netting to give the girls their own areas Oops spotted eachother Like an idiot I thought because the netting was up they were seperate. Pigeon lunged through and grabbed Eider by the neck who shrieked and pigeon left with a mouthfull of feathers. So let Pigeon and Grackle loose on the borders - finished now really. The babes settled down to some grass Love those fluffy knickers All was calm for the rest of the afternoon
