Too Young?

Recommended Posts

Yes,its awful how some little girls dress isn't it?

Saw a girl of about 11 in 3 inch heels in Tesco last week - made me almost as mad as her brother scooting around on wheelies

Both my girls are pretty good clothes wise.

Cleo has a very definite style though - punky, geeky & quirky, & I am proud of her for standing out from the crowd.

I saw a group of her classmates the other day & I swear that you could not tell them apart.Same ironed flat hilighted hair with a side parting, same style clothes, same make up & too much of it. My girl looked so different from them all in her skinnier than skinny jeans, punk t-shirt & duck butt blue/black hair :lol:

At our primary school on a no school uniform day when DD was in year 3 she was the only one that didn't go in wearing a full face of makeup  I had painted a tiny flower on her face with facepaint which I though was far more appropriate. Silly thing was all of the girls thought that that was much more fun.

 Sooo glad its not just me that rolls eyes and sighs  I was always the one standing out from the crowd clothes-wise (mainly because my mum was far to sensible a lady to dress her child in designer names when all I'd do was climb trees, get generally filthy and ruin them :anxious: )

I was always the geeky/rocky one that didn't really seem to fit in - well done your girl for sticking to what she wants to wear :clap::clap: It took me years to find my own style, now I'M the one with funny coloured hair/too many earrings/rockypunky clothes :D

Fortunately my daughter talks to me about things. I hope this continues! Plus she hates 'fashion' and dresses very sensibly jeans/combats and fleeces/top, sensible gortex coat too!!

I got over the shock of going out with a boy. He didn't so much as hold her hand!!!! perhaps I was over reacting. i was so worried I peeked on her mobile phone and all was ok.

I think that, as long as we talk and listen to our children - we will all reach a way of dealing with the pre-teenage and teenage years.

DD was a complete tomboy until aout two years ago. She has always been and remains very sporty but she now likes to be "fashionable." as well. Happily, so far, I have not had to frown upon any of her choices as she is not one of these "mini vamps" that have been described.

She does wear a touch of make up which I think is a bit of a shame as she doesn't need it but it is not over the top. it's ironic really as I need make up and can't be bothered to wear it!

She has far more male friends than female although gets on well with both. I am quite content that her "boyfriend" is just a friend. She openly acknowledges that, at 12 (going on 26!) she is far too young to have proper boyfriends.

DS has a great group of mates of both sexes and I don't think that any of them are "going out" individually and we are both happy with that situation :)

I am sure things will get more complicated over the next few years for all of us with children of this age but I am sure that we wll all come though
