Patricia W
I would love one - or two- as I gather they can't be kept alone. But they are mega expensive and very hard to come by. I too would love to know if anyone on here has them. Tricia

Lewis
I'd love one but know its not practical ... at this house We always say one day we'll have a farm, and Mom loves pigs so I know we'd be allowed to get one
OllieNLucys Mum
OMG these are just so cute. We love pigs. One of the buildings at our yard used to house Kunie Kunies and my daughter bottle fed one or two over the years. These look the same but I guess just do not grow as big. The problem with pigs is they completely trash the land, we had to reseed all the paddocks that had had pigs in and 2 years later the grazing is still not good i think they have permanently damaged the soil bringing all the clay up I too would be interested to hear from anyone who has these. Chucky Mama
I think that they are totally gorgeous...however this type of thing worries me. To selectively breed something this small is bound to have a medical implication. I can only guess that they wont be very robust. Nature didn't intend them to be so small. Also I remember the pot bellied pig craze which resulted in lots being kept in houses and then abandoned or put up for new homes ...still totally adorable though
OllieNLucys Mum
Hmm yes i can totally see where you are coming from chucky mama. It is a worry but then i guess these will be treated as pets and not subject to the harsher weather, wintered out etc. I too remember the pot bellied pig craze where people actually had them in their homes Eventually the little cute piggy became a massive big pig and got booted out The one thing i don't like is when animals are kept in a way that does not allow them to be what they are. eg the idea of a lap pig is repugnant if i ever did get any i would want them to be able to be pigs ,have mud wallows loads of ground to root around in etc.
Martin B
Plus they also get a hell of a lot bigger than you think! All the media hype with these has shown them sitting in a teacup etc, however they do get up to 16" long, so they are not ideal for flats etc which some people seem to believe... HENthusiastic
Cute, but kind of strange and somehow not quite right but definitely cute.
Ness3103
i would love one but they don't stay that size, you need a special transportation license to bring them home , you also need a special license to take them anywhere, if you want to take them for a walk you have to have the route approved, so it's a lot more involved than people think. my other worry would be if it needed a vet as trying to find a local vet that deals with chickens is a nightmare, can you imagine finding one for your pig
Rhapsody
Ness3103 that is an excellent point. I have 5 Pygmy Goats, they are the yard pets and keeps us all amused and eat weeds and brambles for me, but they are subject to the same amount of Defra paperwork as if they were a commercial flock of sheep, and subject to the same restrictions on transportation etc. I do think that they would like a tiny piggy friend to hang out with though.... *slaps self*
