The Restaurant....

Recommended Posts

What a baffling situation. :? Bodger or whatever his name is seemed to be the best 'front of house, with charm and a real rapport with the customers. I just don't get it.

What exactly are the Cocktail Winkers about? Neither of them cook and they seem to spend their entire time congratulating themselves and high fiving all the time.

The couple who look disconcertingly alike did well at the Farmers Market, but her retching at the sight of food and making a fuss about having to dig a few spuds was wearisome. Her nails are a bit grim too.

Nathan is plain rude and I'd have shut him down on the spot.

:( I thought Badger and Barney were a good bet to win - I'm baffled too because Barney is clearly a good cook, and Badger was an absolute star at front-of-house - not only was he organised, but charming with the customers! I don't understand why he felt so uneasy with it, it's a real shame.

I don't rate any of the others - Nathan is a disgrace, I wonder if Raymond and the others see the TV footage or whether they base their decision just on what they've seen themselves? He doesn't deserve to run a restaurant with that attitude! The two Nigerian ladies just don't seem to be able to get their act together.

The blonde couple do look 'disconcertingly alike' how anyone could make so much fuss about digging up a few spuds is beyond me, and she doesn't really seem to like food. Well, not real food anyway. As for the Cocktail Winkers - I noticed Sarah used the word 'arrogant' about them tonight, she's not wrong there.

I felt so disappointed tonight I'm not sure I want to watch any more - but no doubt I will tune in next week just in the hope that the CWs get their come-uppance.

I agree with both of your comments Egluntyne and Olly.

The way I see it, the only couple that stood a chance of making it in the restaurant business have decided their hearts are not in it. I was gutted to see Badger and Barney leave.

I don't think any of the others deserve it on their current performance. The Cocktails winkers have to go. Nathan is letting his team down with his appalling attitude, the Nigerian girls are all over the place with their concept and the lookalike couple, well she is just a big wuss over everything, gosh its some spuds, its some rabbits...DEAL WITH IT!!!!

Don't know if I can bothered to tune in next week, as I don't feel an affinity to any of them :?

Well, after last night's debacle I'd have sacked the lot of them

Only James (the least obnoxious Cocktail Winker) and Nathan redeemed themselves, although Nathan did himself no favours at the tea dance.

In the real world, every one of them would have been shown the door long ago.

I am now transfixed by this programme. They are all so ridiculous, that I have to watch.

The lookalike husband will never live that cake down.

Nathan annoyed me so much. He was only fine in the second part because everything was going his way. He is so lazy and as soon as something goes wrong he gets attitude. I know that the Nigerian theme disappeared but at least they cooked. The Cocktail WInkers either bought their food or got the other guy in the kitchen to cook for them. I think the front of house guy is good except I hate people who crouch by my table when I am out. I am sure that aeroplane guy and his wife are actually twins. The cake was a tough ask but I think they got away with it because of it's comedy value

:lol::lol::lol:

What a SHAMBLES last night. Nathan is a horrid little man who thinks althogether too much of himself and he is to the restaurant trade what Jeremy Clarkson is to Foreign Policy. The Midwitch Cuckoo Couple work very hard but that cake looked like it had been made by children, and if she retches one more time at food she doesnt like I may have to moderate her. The Cocktail Winkers are blooming hopeless and cocky and the chef looks terrified he is going to be found out the entire time.

The Nigerian Ladies couldnt get their heads around adapting any of their dishes with the tasks or ingredients given- surely there are Nigerian cake recipies? Anyway they are all useless in their own way and I think Raymond must be weeping into his Chablis every evening.

They are a really hopeless bunch this series!

Nathan's partner can cook it seems but is so let down by Mr Teddy Overboard. They turn up 45 minutes late and no-one wants their stuff because they've already ordered (and the menu was rubbish), so suddenly he's not playing anymore!

The Midwitch Cuckoo Couple (ha ha, love that name! ) will probably win it I think (best of a bad bunch) but Mrs Retch really could do with a dose of the real world.

I would eat at the following restaurants for the following reasons

The Cocktail Winkers :wink: - to pour a jug of water over his head when he crouched at my table. Food would be OK 'cos the other Cocktail Winker would have got someone else to cook it for him. Why oh why go into a competition to set up a restuarant when you don't cook. Never made pastry or made a cake..do me a favour :shock

Rags & Riches - would eat the food first as looks like he can cook, then I would complain about something just to get a rise out of Nathan- then I wouldn't have to pay because he would be rude to me. :talk2hand:

The Chunky Twins - would get a good feed of bog standard food and then could have a good laugh when they come out with my Teddy Bear birthday cake that I have asked them to make

OMG that's it, there is no one that I can take seriously. How can Raymond possible go into partnership with such a bunch of no hopers. :eh:

That aeroplane cake had me in fits of laughter especially after it got a mention on Harry Hill's TV burp  I did feel sorry for the guy though, I can just imagine he had a great picture in his head of how it would look & sadly it wasn't to be, if I'd had to present that to people I think I'd have slipped and dropped it

It's a shame that the couples have to stay together, as there doesn't seem to be a couple that is strong on the cooking and front of house, I think the midwitch cuckoo couple are the best of a rotten lot, But I think that ditching Nathan & JJ & putting their partners together could work.

I felt really sorry for them, being asked to make a cake in the shape of an aeroplane. I wouldn't know where to start.

That Nathan has a really bad attitude, unfortunately Raymond didn't get to see it.

I could help thinking throughout the cake debacle that any "real" restaurant would probably say no if asked to make a cake in the shape of a plane or sub-contract the work to a professional cake maker.

Arrgghhh!

I knew as soon as they were having "demonstrations" that the cocktail winkers would survive to see another day.

I can't stand JJ - and what is the point in having a programme called The Restaurant when the chef can't cook???? :notalk:

Just hope Rags2Riches win now even though Nathan is equally annoying as JJ.

My sentiments exactly. I wanted the Lookalikes to go through. I think there is a bit of s"Ooops, word censored!"bery going on. They seem to have been popular with their guests and I thought their cookery school and demo were the best. They seemed to appeal to normal folk.

Seems like it to me too - not fair :notalk:

That demo was made for the cocktail winkers, it's almost as if the producers knew that the lookalike couple (particularly the shy husband) would buckle under that challenge.

I think my 10 year old nephew could have battered some peppers and cooked like JJ did.

I'm not sure I want to watch the rest of the series :? I can't believe that the cocktail winkers are still in it  I really thought that they would get their come uppance tonight, I reckon they've sold their souls to the devil to be so consistently poor yet unbelievably lucky, I feel very sorry for the Midwich couple :( I thought they were the strongest couple.

Well it seems to me that Shrek and Princess Fiona spent quite a lot of the series saying that they couldn't/wouldn't for one reason or another or with one or other of them in tears..and as Raymond et al are primarily looking for a business partner I can see why they thought they may not be a good bet. Also I'm not sure that Raymond is interested in appealling to "ordinary folk" He wants excellence at every single level. That said I think they would do very well if they wanted to set up and run their own restaurant as they obviously have flair, and my heart went out to them tonight..because there is a big difference between being a showman and being a chef...in fact I thought he did very well and talked through his recipes more than the others...but of course you never know how much is down to the editing.

I know the Cocktail Winkers are far too full of themselves, but to be fair nothing so far has ever phased them or dented their confidence in their respective abilities (no matter how misplaced) so you have to give them some credit for that at least

I haven't really been able to relate to any of the couples in this series in any particular way, imo it is definitely lacking in comparison to the last series, and so I don't much care who wins...but I will watch it next week to find out.

Same here.

Simply can't understand why the three 'judges' for want of a better word, have allowed the Cocktail Winkers to get to this stage though. They are so full of themselves. Their presentation was a joke, their speil petered out as they didn't know their stuff, and 2 of the judges said they were blaggers and chancers. Who would go into business with their type in the real world.

I think there is some misplaced idea that it makes for good telly...at least we all seem to care that they don't win...so perhaps that's the best the BBC could do with this series...sorry I'm being cynical again...

I don't know why I watched it tonight because I don't feel any of those three couples should be in the final. Every time there's a challenge, one or other of them fails ... and still gets through to the next round! :? The lookey-likeys were by far the best at the cookery demonstration ... I will watch the final, but I think this has been a very disappointing series.
