AnnieP
Oh Karen, best of luck: We were in the same situation last year: Hope it goes well. Make sure you take lots of pictures. It will be worth the aggro in the end... honest! Hope you've got an internet connection where you're going?

It will be worth the aggro in the end... honest! Hope you've got an internet connection where you're going? I'm pretty sure we will have internet , as the house is smaller than where we are at the moment so I'll need some omlet therapy Only really bad thing is we will have to leave the chickens in our garden and nip back to let them in and out, but I won't be able to see them from the kitchen window The builders have offered to look after them during the day, as one of the team loves chickens, and share their lunch with them karen x
ubereglu
The builders have offered to look after them during the day, as one of the team loves chickens, and share their lunch with them That's really sweet. I hope the building work goes well, sticks to budget and doesn't end up being months late!!!

Cinnamon
Good Luck Karen. I live with a Builder - so I know what a pain they can be You are very, very sensible to move out. It will be a pain in the short term but, & I speak from experience,in the long term it is the best solution

theherd123
Karen we have just finished (apart from a few bits'n'bobs) our building work whick took 9 months & we lived in it while we were renovating so i know what you have ahead of you. Please feel free to scream, cry, shake your head, roll your eyes and generally let out your emotions if it all gets too much!!! In fact any of the following ; and do doubt you will be doing this the most
kannie
What are you having done Karen? Something wonderful and new, or repairs? We had builders in for a year when we had subsidence, and we stayed here with them throughout Definately a good idea to get out and let them get on with it more quickly... We've got several things that need doing now, but I still just can't face having any workmen round the house! We've had no light in our bathroom for about 5 weeks!! Karen & co.
What are you having done Karen? : We are having the back of the house changed around and a flat roof extension previous owners had done over the dining room removed, the whole room rebuilt and our bedroom built on top. The bathroom will move from one side of the house to the other and then all the children can have a room each, which is probably a good job, as the way property prises are they will never be able to afford to leave home. The builders have said 20 weeks ("with no b***ering around") ie us living there It will also involve a new kitchen bathroom etc. but we looked into moving instead and found for the cost of extending, we would get the number of bedrooms we want, but no garden for the dogs chooks and of course children I keep saying my mantra "It will be worth it" although I have my fingers crossed karen x
Lesley
Good Luck Karen - we did the same a couple of years ago. We ended up moving back in while they were still there (after 8 months) It will all be worth it in the end - honestly
Popcorn
Oh gosh Karen, good luck with it all. Where are you moving into? Is it with relatives? We submitted some plans about 7 weeks ago, so I'm waiting to hear anytime now. I'm totally dreading the work being done, as we can't afford to rent anywhere and have no relatives nearby to put us up, or put up with us! Ontop of this we are planning another baby. We're caught between a rock and a hard place as we'll need the extra space with two children, but am hating the thought of being here with a newborn while walls are being knocked out. I'm breaking into a cold sweat now. Would love to see a regular update of your house.
Trish
IT WILL BE WORTH IT KAREN, honestly. You may need t keep telling yourself that but you sound to have friendly builders which is a great start.
theherd123
This was my kitchen mid renovation! This was the view from my kitchen mid renovation! But this is my kitchen nearly finished and it was all worth it!!! You will get there Karen and it will be worth it despite the hassle, brick dust, traumas over tiles and battles over bathrooms!!! You need eyes in the back and the sides of your head when you have two littl'uns into everything! I'm quite excited at your 'planning another baby' idea. I had my two close together (17 months) and am pleased I did. Happy to discuss pros and cons if you wish.
Linda
Emma, your kitchen looks wonderful! It's good to see the before and after pictures.
Karen & co.
Wow Emma, what great photos, and one seriously nice kitchen I may use it as a screen saver to show what can be achieved Gina, my sister had her baby at home just before Christmas, while most of her house looks like Emmas kitchen pre and mid renovation they are a long way off the post renovation and have been living in a caravan in the garden not my idea of a good time in the middle of winter. We are moving into a much smaller house so we can afford the rent and mortgage, but it's a scary thought to see all the money bleed out of our account while this happens. I can feel some tightnings in my purse strings karen x
Lesley
We had to pay Rent and Mortgage for 8 months when we did ours as well Karen - very good practise for what we are doing now with a Bridging Loan and a Mortgage - who knows, you could be taking the same route??? Karen & co.
- who knows, you could be taking the same route??? Sssshh, don't let Mark hear you say that , I'm having to make him a mosaic from the en-suite he did 2 years ago, as he slaved so much over it and now it's being demolished so I can't sew any seeds for moving untill we have at least finished karen x
