BarbaraJ
My daughter is living in Australia for a year and she has her birthday and christmas in Dec. I was sending a parcel with small light stuff in to keep down costs. It had to go Airmail (but there was only £10 difference anyway) to get there for her birthday. when she left i had to send out 2 pairs of jeans and a sweatshirt which cost £15 which was bad enough. A couple of t shirts , lots of beads and a few stocking fillers ....... wait for it ...... .... ..... £55 thats the last parcel i will be sending until she gets back!!!!! The woman said the last one must have been priced wrong.

BarbaraJ
She showed me the leaflet and i checked online too rediculous think of all the old people sending children and grandchildren presents in Australia!!!
Lydia
Hang on that can't be right. We send parcels overseas all the time, admittedly by the business account which is a bit cheaper but not THAT much cheaper. How much did it all weigh? You can send quite a lot via Airmail without going into freight rates.
Blackrocksrock
That is terrible - the post office are killing themselves as we wont use them much if this carries on - you will need to get crocheting Barbara!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! craftyhunnypie
Next time go on interparcel & get a courier quote. We use them & I'm sure your parcel would work out cheaper to be sent with them. Emma.x
docsquid
Yes, we use Interparcel for international shipments for our business and they are better than Royal Mail or Parcel Force (who do our UK shipping). Our shipping costs to Australia are high but then our stuff weighs a lot. We still don't pay £55 even for a 30kg parcel!
BarbaraJ
thanks wish i'd known that before doh!! thought royal mail was it! I keep checking but for 2.5kg thats the cheaper option the dearest was £70+ Interparcel want 70-90£ too maybe that was because of the size of the box! which was about 30x40cm
Seagazer
Gosh thats a lot of money on top of the presents. This is why I've given up sending presents by post. I'm afraid they get a gift voucher or money.
Snowy
The last time I sent over a parcel to Canada for my brother's family it was £60 Now I order on line from Canadian/US sites and get things delivered direct
craftyhunnypie
Can you split stuff up into smaller sized parcels, to keep the costs down? Emma.x
BarbaraJ
i looked at that but even the smaller ones were 20+ so wouldn't have made much difference the only way would have been 10 small parcels i suppose lol but they would be bound to get lost! ubereglu
OUCH!!! How on earth can they justify such a price?
Sheilaz
Goodness! Maybe just a letter not a present next time? However, your daughter will be so delighted to receive the parcel. It must be great to open something sent with love from the other side of the world.
BarbaraJ
i'm just paranoid about it getting there after refusing to pay even more for insurance so i said its worth £45 because the cost included £50 insurance. I was not paying even more!!! that all said she will love all her bits from family and nan and has strict instructions not to open her xmas presents in there until 25th dec lol
chick wiggle
Flippin eck!!! That seems outrageous, but i suppose we would all do the same for our kids. Only thing to do now is forget the cost and remember the pleasure she'll get opening it
