AnnieP
erm.... they are on the list.... hopefully in the autumn, once we've done the pig keeping course, and located a breeder who will have piglets at around that time.... oh, and if Jonnie EVER finishes the house.... Lesley
No charge, but they have to bring Blue so she can come and sit on our window sil and look pretty. Do you really want to keep pigs through the winter Annie? We were so glad we didn't. We really miss having the pigs around but it was so muddy that we were glad they had gone. If you're thinking of Kune Kunes then I assume you're not having them for meat and will be keeping them year round anyway?
AnnieP
That's the idea Lesley: two or three little pet piggies. Not too bothered about the land and mud: We'd simply rotate them round. The donkeys only use about 1/6 of what we've got, so they're welcome to the rest!
Lesley
Kune Kunes would be just the right size for a spit roast though
AnnieP
oh don't: So tempting..... I'm up for it, but Jonnie is so tender hearted... However, I DO have plans for the patter of tiny trotters in a couple of years...
Christian
I DO have plans for the patter of tiny trotters in a couple of years... Does Jonnie know? Can I have a couple of the piglets? OH won't know - I'll keep them in the veg garden, he never goes out there
Lesley
As long as they're Kune Kunes Christain! - he won't notice those
Martin B
I'd love a pot bellied pig or another one of the mini pigs, perfect size for 1 bacon butty! Hopefully when I'm older I will have gloucestershire oldspots, that's the dream. Although I do quite like the ginger one that Lesley used to have. Looney
I love pigs too! I'm soooooo jealous! I would love a Lincolnshire Curly Coat pig (except they no longer exist ) Here's one: http://www.britishpigs.org.uk/trad4.htm

Mel (& Paul)
I think we would have room for a couple of kune kunes - down in the woody bit. Not sure the neighbours would be too happy though........... Hey ho, I am sending Blue over to Jonnie so that she can butter him up for another weekend with you and the piggies
Lesley
This is where Lesley and Carl went on a course. Jonnie and I are going on it this year! Have you booked and paid Annie? Tony York, who runs these courses from his home, is very ill at the moment. There is a thread in River Cottage - they have had to get rid of all the pigs and it's not looking good. http://forum.rivercottage.net/viewtopic.php?t=20253 We saw the Curly Coated pigs while we were there - they are being 'bred back' from the Hungarian pig which contains genes from the Lincolnshire. It will be the closest they can get back to the Lincolnshire.
Linda
I booked to go on this course over two years ago but with all sorts of difficulties going on in my life, I didn't get to go in the end. I spoke to Tony a few times on the phone and he sounded lovely. It's a bit worrying if "Ooops, word censored!"ody has heard from him. On a serious note, it's a bit worrying about the guy who runs the courses...

Oh, how sad! and I had just given the details to my parents who were going to buy the course for our joint birthday present! I'll have to ring them and tell them not to disturb the poor couple. What a shame (for them), I am sure Lesley and Carl will be able to point us in the right direction should we need any advice, and I have located a breeder about 20 miles away from us...
