Guest
We've got snow here, Louise - maybe about an inch or so. The children are THRILLED!
Louise
None at home Shona I only encountered it about halfway through Penicuik on the way in About a centimeter at work though I wish it would warm up as I have a roof problem and the roofer can't do anything until it is above freezing and dry for three days
Lesley
My son was supposed to be working on roofs that were damaged in the high winds, today
The Dogmother
We've got about 4", the centre of Banbury is at a standstill and Rosie's school is closed Still snowing but I'm at work with Rosie. I'll see how it goes, if the others get in then I'll go back home.
Lesley
Lauren and Jake are not at school, but I won't get them until this afternoon. Carl has just frightened the life out of the cows by going in with a full face balaclava on He had to take it off before they'd come near him Carl has all the fun - he's also just come face to face with a very large fox - just at the front of the house. He showed up so well against the snow. Three of the cockerels were playing silly b's and balancing on the top edge of the outer fence - they may get a shock if Mr.Fox goes to have a look Hopefully, the electric fence will deter him. The Dogmother
I'm surprised that the electric fence isn't buried in the snow Lesley. It was snowing hard here until about half an hour ago - it seems to be melting now - all 6" of it. I'm at home now with the fire going, we've had lunch and are going out to play in the snow in a minute! My chooks stayed in the run this morning because they hate the snow and anyway they'd get buried! Biscuit went out of the cat flap this morning not realising that the snow had drifted against the back door - he went straight into a wall of snow and came shooting back in squealing Someone has built a snowman on the high street in Banbury and people have added to it, so it's enormous with a hat, scarf and broom! I spoke to a contact in Scotland this morning and they don't have any snow, but our office in Epping (Essex) is closed; they have 8" of snow and can't get out of their roads. Well, the men say that it's 8", but we all know how men lie about things like that
Martin B
So Lesley, can you explain all about your eggs in incubators?
Lesley
I wondered when you would notice Martin Well........ a week ago Monday, I was so bored and in pain from sciatica, I went to have a look at plucking machines on Ebay......... and found myself in Hatching Eggs I wondered how much some eggs would go for - but instead of just watching, I placed a bid Then I phoned Pearl and had a chat about her move and having to sell her chickens. I managed to NOT buy any more of hers, but by the time I came off the phone.................... I'd won all the ******* eggs Then I realised that the incubator we have wasn't big enough I tried to force Big Buff to go broody again - but she wasn't interested ............. so, we had to buy a new incubator - Carl was sooooo pleased It gets better........... I realised that if I set the eggs over the weekend............... they would be ready to hatch weekend of 3/4 March - when we will be in Edinburgh So, I set them yesterday so that if any hatch, they will hatch when we are home. Fertility is not too good at this time of year , I bought them from 2 different people whom I don't know and I waited before setting them in the incubator If any hatch, we have 12 Copper headed Black Marans and 6 Blue Wyandotte Bantams. I added 7 of our own eggs to make up numbers - 1 Bernevelder Bantam and 6 oddbods. Would you like to see the photos?
