One Man Banned
There seems to be a bit of a theme at the moment for music related posts and this one isn't much different. I'm looking for a punchy bit of music to play at my next gig on 3rd Feb - It's an awards night and I want to play a bit of music each time that a winner is announced for them to walk up to the stage to collect their award! I can only think of one song at the moment and as I have already got 100 things going through my mind about the big night I thought I would see if my forum buddies could help me out on this one! So far, I have got Robbie Williams, Millennium - the opening strings bit.... HELP! A xx
Looney
Erm, that's a real tough one....I'm afraid I'm not very good at these sort of things - what kind of awards are they? Maybe a bit more info might inspire peoples imagination..... (sorry, I'm no help at all !)
bronze
what sort of things I'm thinking stuff like carmin burana or the faithless one that samples it (blank mind)
One Man Banned
it's nowt too grand!! - the hair salon I use has over 20odd staff and each year they present awards to Top Stylist, Best Sales, and even more embarrassingly for one poor soul, a Muppet Moment of the Year Award!! This is like their Christmas party as it's far too busy leading up to the festive season for them to do this what with everyone wanting their own hair doing for going out etc. A xx
Looney
Aha, well for the Muppet moment award you should play a bit of the Muppet theme tune......... If it is a salon then perhaps a bit of Vogue by Madonna (sorry, very cheesy I know!)
bronze
personally I would say the beginning of Elephant stone (stone roses) but I dont think its to everyones taste how about someones version of fanfare for the common man Im thinking Im thinking

Guest
how about a snatch of "I feeeeeeeeel good" by James Brown. (in honour of the fact that he has just died...) Phil
One Man Banned
That was one suggestion we had between us last night Phil! Had a thought just as I went to sleep last night, but forgotten it this morning A xx
Tina C
The one that goes 'Simply the best, better than all the rest'? Not very good on music but always remember bits of lyrics. Was it Tina Turner? 'We are the Champions' 'You're so Vain' might fit in somewhere? Desperately trying to think of something with hair references (other than Blondie and Haircut 100!) Charlottechicken
If you want a short piece of instrumental music with quite a fast beat (to get people up to the stage quicker?) how about Lust for Life by Iggy Pop, theres quite an intro to that. Other songs with a decent amount of intro are You Could Be Mine by Guns N Roses (over 1 minute), Song 2 by Blur, Moby D*ck by Led Zeppelin is an instrumental, and I agree with Cinnamon on this one, Riverboat Song by Ocean Colour Scene. One Man Banned
What about the bits of music they use on the advert break bumpers for football on Sky? Republica - Ready to Go, Into the Valley by [The Skids?] Sky Sports? What's that then! Good choices though I also like the Pet Shop Boy's too - it really doesn't matter if it's cheesy - cheesy music is GOOD! occasionally A xx

gooner.girl
not when compared to a slice of Brie I love Brie! Brie is great and The Pet Shop Boys aren't cheesy! Much! And besides like you say - cheesy music is good! Particuarly for hairdressers awards ceremonys anyway! And for dancing to at disco's! Scissors sisters 'don't feel like dancing' is a prime example of great cheese and always makes me want to get up and dance! Its a fab song! Love Helen (boogie-ing her way to bed )
