BeckyBoo
.....following on from Patsylabradors post, (and not wanting to hijack it!) thought I'd show you what my Dad did this month and where he and I went last Tuesday. Basically he collected cash and ordered goods to fill about 1100 parcels which he then posted out to the Falklands, Afghanistan and Iraq. We then took 30 odd parcels to Headley Court Rehabilitation Centre to give to the guys and girls there, then on to Stepney in East London to an ex-servicemens hostle which houses 56 homeless ex-servicemen and acts as a drop in centre for another 50. (I had permission to use the photos from Headley in publicity shots, but not from the guys at the hostel so I haven't posted any pictures of them) My Dads house - full of STUFF! .....and boxes.... and then the people on the receiving end... Thinking of them all this Christmas, I think everyone from Headley is going home in time for Friday, last year some had to stay. We'll be raising a glass to them and people like Patsylabradors son over Christmas lunch BeckyBoo
Lesley
Thanks Becky for showing what happens to donations - and a big thank-you to your Dad and others for all the hard work!
patsylabrador
Thank you very much and thank your Dad. I know it brings the lads a lot of pleasure. The last time he spoke to me he was very hungry and the next day they got the parcels through. You can imagine how great that must be, he tpld me before that they were amazed that people would make so much effort for them.
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Well done. I've done a lot of stints at Crisis, and the amount of homeless ex-forces people is shocking and disgusting. They can't cope with what they've had to do and who they've had to be, go a bit unbalanced, lose everything, and get ignored. It's appalling. Well done to anyone that does anything to support them.
