I'm so sorry to hear that news Nutmeg.

 

Foxes are very hungry right now with the cubs being due soon; an enormous dog fox walked nonchalantly across our path on Sunday when I was walking the dog

I went for a walk at our wildlife site in the snow this morning. There were fox prints everywhere. They were clearly after the rabbits as there were rabbit prints everywhere too. I rarely see foxes there, although occasionally hear them. I hadn't appreciated just how many foxes there must be around that we never see.

 

My chooks are staying in unless I'm in the garden with them. In this weather it means 1/2 to 1 hour FR only a day, but they seem happy with that.

So sorry to read of your loss. One of my lovely girls was killed by a fox. It's a horrible thing to happen. We had never seen a fox, even though we had lived here for 5 years. Don't let it put you off keeping chucks. I have two chickens left and I'm much more careful and they have been fine. Sending hugs your way.x
