Trish
Thank you Lesley. I was pretty sure I posted about the exam fiasco here so thought it the best place to post the conclusion.
SarahJo
When you live only 250yds (approx) uphill from the leisure centre ... it does not mean Easter courses will wait for you to saunter in with a booking form. 5pm from the 13th March ... does actually, mean just that , Luckily , Ben has got his trampolining slot .... but BOY did I have to queue . Lesley
I learned this morning - Finish one job instead of starting hundreds! Yesterday I threw stuff out of:- the bathroom cupboard, Carl's Wardrobe, the office cupboards and spare bedroom wardrobes. Then I was too tired to sort it all out and it stayed there! This morning I started sorting Carl's clothes. He came in to the bedroom after sorting out the girls and emptying the poo trays and said "I'll have to use your bathroom" without thinking I asked why......."Because I've had burglars in mine" came the reply! Ooops, that will be me then It is all sorted and put away now I'd better go and finish the rest
Sheilaz
But Lesley, this sounds unusual for you whereas, for me, its just how I seem to manage (mismanage) my life! S. dreads it when I'm tidying because I always misjudge the time involved. Paperworks is the worst culprit. Its not really time so much as delaying tactics. ie. 1. Empty boxes, cupboards onto floor, 2. sort a few things 3. make coffee, repeat 2 4. Phone sister i hour later repeat 2 5. make pot of tea etc etc. Husband comes in & it still looks like stage 1. Esp. now there's Omlet & chicken distractions. Its actually worse the more time I have..eg. a whole day off at home, or if S. is away, then I'm even more ambitious and empty even more out to do. When will I learn? PS. no.2 is harder if it includes photos.
Lesley
PS. no.2 is harder if it includes photos. Or newspapers
Sheilaz
Exactly Lesley! My parents came round with a bundle of Saga magazines that had been sent to them unrequested. "We haven't got time to read them so we thought you might like to." (Thanks for choice of title,Mother, don't bother bringing anything interesting...I'd have settled for Aga magazine) So, they don't like to recycle them unread, & I've got to read them....just so they don't feel guilty throwing them away. Now, I can't put them in bin without reading them can I? Compromised thinking doing the crossword would be enough. Too hard. Now I'm getting behind with Radio Times and "Plastics & Rubber" (industrial ) After a week, S. bravely said "what are all these Saga magazines doing all over the house?" It was a bit hard to explain. Do you think I might be allowed to put one a day in droppings tray. That should count.
Lesley
Just don't you send them to me Plastics and Rubber? We'll believe you! At least it sounds more interesting than all the 'Accountancy and Business' and 'Taxation' which I have to take out of the plastic wrappers! 'Which' - because no-one can be bothered to cancel it - is quite a good read - National Trust and English Heritage both sent new books
Kim Gardner
I really, really shouldn't go onto the forum for a 'quick look '.I've been here at least half an hour now!My son has managed to scoff a packet of crisps and a bit of chocolate and my daughter is still asleep during my 'absence'.I will pay for this later for sure.Dinner is very not ready and my husband will be home soon to find that I've been talking to the other 'chicken people' as he lovingly refers to us all!! Lesley
There is no such thing as a quick look is there! I'm always doing that on my way to bed - which is why my posts are so late!
Louise
I am getting really bad - I'm at work and feeling annoyed that I have been so busy today it is lunchtime before I could catch up
Sheilaz
Things I've learned this week............ Thought I'd post a couple to amuse you at work Louise, & everyone else too hopefully... If you wear contact lenses but have conjunctivitis, be sensible and have Optrex eyebaths & wear glasses until it clears. Don't be vain & think "Well, I want to wear lenses for work & can't if I've used eyebath solution" because... You will surely go to work looking like vampire and everyone will notice & ask why you've got red eyes, and the eyes will itch & go gommy And, if 2 eldest are away at uni/college, don't be tempted to use their bedrooms as dumping grounds for all that unsorted washing, unsorted paperwork & unsorted "don't know where to put this junk", because, You will surely find yourself running round aimlessly trying to make a space for them, & all years of telling them to be tidy will be undone, and you will surely find the morning disappears playing with chickens & chatting on forum because you don't know where to start...... OK ..off to get shovel & black sacks........
Nicola H
Sheila you just cheered me up ................. Sorry for laughing but the mental picture I just conjured up is very funny. Hope your eyes get better soon you will just have to wear you specks the chooks won't mind.......... You had better get clearing up if the tennagers are home for the Easter holidays..... are the shovel and black sacks for the kids rooms or the chickens... Sheilaz
For the whole house in general...the chickens are the easy bit....right, I'm really off to do it now...or shall I phone my sister 1st (only be gone an hour)...
Mrs Frugal
Sheila you sound just like me - The Great Procrastinator!! Hope your eyes get better soon. Conjunctivitis is horrible - abandon vanity and go for comfort !
Lesley
Sheila, if I wasn't so k.............tired I would come round with my shovel, but it's been doing overtime this week and it's still going, apart from this morning where I have been on 'hold' for 15 mins trying to order strawberry plants - typing on here with one finger and now I need to go and look at the Eglu on Ebay and goodness knows when I shall surface from in there
Louise
Hi Sheila - ouch haven't had conjunctivitus since I was a kid and I remember it was painful. I wear glasses and won't even try contacts I will keep my windows!! You would think I would have one day this week which isn't flat out but - no yesterday I didn't get time to check the forum until abotu 5pm this is not good enough I think I may need to borrow the shovel to sort some of my paperwork out
Lesley
Louise - you can have mine - I'm sick of the sight of it! I must get the house sorted so that I can get out in the garden and once the veg start growing that will be it. The girls are going to be gardening (well weeding really) at the weekend - I'm looking forward to having some help!
