stoice
Just booked a holiday! A week in Lanzarote at the end of March. Here's my ickle dilema. Have put on a few insulating pounds over Christmas (Not to mention lots before Christmas too ) so am quite self conscious of my wobbly bits at the mo. Well, I'm always conscious of them but that's nothing a baggy jumper and stretchy jeans can't hide. I haven't been on a sunny holiday in a few years and am used to wearing a bikini (Along with huge beach towel around me at all other times!) With my extra padding - should I go in bikini again this year or would an all-in-one be better? (For me to be relaxed at the way I look) I've heard of one-pieces that allow you to tan through the material at the same time - although not sure about spf with those? Are they any good? If i get a bikini - what is a good supportive make? Any advice omletters, would be fab. Ta Stacey xxx
Seagazer
I'm a wimp and hate to expose myself in a bikini on holiday, but when I get there and see literally everyone else in a bikini I think to myself, why not? The amount of times I've had to go and buy a bikini whilst I'm on holiday. My hubby just goes Go for it. I always think that I'm never likely to see anyone else again so so what if they've seen my wobbly bits. That is apart from when I got off the plane in spain and there was a lady with her family from our school! I was willing her to be at a different hotel and luckily she was
majorbloodnock
Well, now if you were a bloke, you could have stubble, moobs and a beer gut, and still feel wandering around in just a pair of Hawaiian shorts was perfectly good taste. I dunno. Men! Always making generalisations.....
jess
Why don't you wear a tankini?
Space Chick
I would say do whatever you feel comfortable doing. Personally, I don't where a bikini but thats my chosing, not that I care what people think, I am a swimsuit girl in my mind If you feel like a bikini girl, be a bikini girl

meezers
My bikini wearing days are long gone, but I've just bought myself a couple of tankinis and I'm converted. They look like all in ones but have the convenience of a bikini for visits to the loo One of mine has shorts instead of briefs, so comfy I didn't want to take them off after trying them on . kitchens
I try not to care what I look like .... or more to the point I do care what I look like buy try to think no-ones looking at me anyway Was just looking at swimmies myself and just saw this in next: http://www.next.co.uk/shopping/women/swimwear/19/5 bit pricey but Freya are lovely and will last yonks. I've got a Freya tankini it's gorge. Why don't you have a bit of an ordering session and try a few bits on at home ..... at least you can take your time and decide and not be put off by those awful lights in changing rooms! Oooh. Just thinking of summer is making me warm!
Looney
I like bikinis and feel more comfortable in a bikini than a swimming cossie - don't ask why, I have no idea! I don't have a fab figure, far from it (unfortunately!). Whatever you choose, if you feel uncomfortable, you will look uncomfortable. If you feel good then you will look good. Why not have a cossie and a bikini and then you can pick and choose? Very jealous that you have a holiday booked!
craftyhunnypie
I just go for it & wear my bikini's. It's too flippin' hot to wear a full cozzie. At the end of the day I am a woman & proud of it. I can't be perfect, but I can be thankful for being healthy & having all my bits (arms, legs, etc) as they should be. So I just get on with it. We are all shapes & sizes anyway & Gok Wan wouldn't want us to hide away. My hubby loves me as I am & that's all that matters. To hell with the rest who might want to gawp. I know I'm beautiful! A chickychickychick-ENN!!
What people think is entirely up to them. If you like wearing a bikini and feel comfortable in one, then go for it. I am really fat but I often wear one on the beach for swimming because I like to feel as close to natural (ok, nude) as possible when swimming and to hell with anyone who is offended by my ample lady flesh. We are who we are. Most of us are lucky enough to have bodies that work. So what if you have some wobbly bits? Some people (although whisper it, because the fashion police really hate people mentioning it) actually like the sight of a larger lady. So yar boo sucks to anyone who wants to throw up at the sight of me. Or to anyone who doesn't want to see a lady over a size 12. If it feels good, doesn't hurt anyone and makes you happy - then do it!
Helly Welly
Take both or a tankini. That way you can guarantee you'll feel comfortable. And don't be worried about your wobbly bit, we all have them. Just remember, you see all sorts around the pool on holiday, not just size 6s. Olly
I agree, wear what you feel comfortable in. For me, a bikini wouldn't be comfortable, I'm a traditionally built lady, and I love the tankinis. I wear bottoms from Thunderpants - another Omlet recommendation! and tankini tops from wherever I can get them. I'm not someone who wants to get a tan though, I always cover up as soon as I'm out of the water to avoid burning. Everyone else on here is right though - celebrate what you've got, you will undoubtedly see other women who are not perfect size 10s. Nothing looks better than a confident posture and a big smile! If it feels good, doesn't hurt anyone and makes you happy - then do it! Exactly - couldn't agree more! Be comfortable, be happy, be you. And if anybody has a problem remember it's THEIR problem, not yours. In fact in my very personal opinion 'plumper' ladies look better in swimwear than very skinny ones. Have you noticed how swimsuit models are a little rounder than catwalk ones? Celebrate lovely curves and glowing healthy skin. Beautiful women come in all shapes, colours and sizes. ...and above all, enjoy that holiday! I'm not at all enviousnot a single bit... stoice
Thanks guys Last minute decision as OH had holiday to use before April so we got a fab deal. Of course it left me no time to magically drop the 2 and half stone that puts me in the 'obese' section of those BMI graphs so will have to make the most of what I've got! I think I'll go for a bikini (But I may also take a one piece too). I agree with loads of you here - no-one really cares what they look like and no-one is hung up on your wobbly bits or insecurities so I shouldn't either. The bikini i used to wear was a flimsy triangle halterneck type. I'm not sure that'll cut it really. Does anyone know of a range of swim wear with the scaffolding I'd need? I'd need support and to feel 'kept in'. I seem to remember Kelly Brook did a range a year or so ago that catered for amble bossomage but can't seem to find any. Are there shops selling summer wear yet? Feels a bit early to be doing so but then I DID see easter eggs on boxing day so anything's possible! The Dogmother
Rosie is a tankini girl too, she's developing an ample figure now and likes to be modest, she's also a very strong swimmer and spends all day in the pool, so needs a bit more than a tiny bikini. Chickendoodle
If you are ample "up top" try Bravissimo - they have brilliant supportive swim stuff
docsquid
Wear what you are comfortable in. If you aren't comfortable with how you look and feel in a bikini, then go with a tankini or one piece. FWIW if you are size 6, like me, bikinis are really unflattering. You need some curves to look good in a bikini. I just look like a walking skeleton. I find a one-piece much more flattering as there are fewer ribs and bones on view. It works both ways!
