hanging feeders - do you need to bring them in at night??

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!!

With my chickens getting up earlier and earlier now the mornings are getting lighter i was starting to think of leaving the cube door open for them but realised they'd have no food :? . I bring the standard grubs in at night to avoid rats etc but do you get the rat/mouse problem with hanging feeders that i could perhaps leave out.

thanks

I have always taken everything in at night just to be on the safe side (we've always had meeces in the garden before the girls and recently one rat which was exterminated, so I don't want to encourage any more). Can be a bit awkward when it's raining because I try and put the feeder under my coat - and there isn't much room in there so I walk up the garden like the hunchback of Notre Dame!
