gooner.girl
WELL SAID PHIL!!!!! Couldn't have put it better myself! John Terrys own stupid fault, no sympathy whatsoever for him! And the fight was fun! (not that i would condone it amongst my kids at school Annie) But hilarious viewing, like i say, just a shame Cashley wasn't playing... chelsea
as I said, im not blaming the player - it was accidental. however, anywhere else on the pitch - you'd get a free kick easily !!! Whinger Wenger would be going mad if it was the other way around My gooner boss was very quiet in work today.
Martin B
Chelsea you are right. Anywhere else on the pitch and it would have been a free kick!
AnnieP
No Helen, I disagree about the fight. It was pathetic. Real handbags at dawn stuff. There were at least 6 amazing punches thrown (and landed) in the England Vs Ireland rugby match. No histrionics, no sendings off, and handshakes all round after. If footballers must fight, then they should cut out the Prima Donna stuff and do it properly! I have never been ashamed or embarrassed to call myself a football fan and an "Ooops, word censored!"nal supporter.... I was on Sunday. Martin B
You can't beat a fight when your at the game. Remember Dublin and Savage. Ferguson and Scharner. Di Canio and Wiley!
Guest
Chelsea you are right. Anywhere else on the pitch and it would have been a free kick! nonsense!!! if a player dives towards a players swinging leg - like a bloated version of Superman - only with the underpants on the inside... then it is not a free kick, it as act of gross stupidity... this is the case in either box and in midfield... or do you mean free-kick to "Ooops, word censored!"nal for Terry's headbutt? in which case - I agree totally! Martin B
Phil no matter what you say that is not how the game is today! With current referees, teams and players it would be a free kick!
Guest
Phil no matter what you say that is not how the game is today! With current referees, teams and players it would be a free kick! nonsense - again!! so - why wasn't a free kick given?? - that game was with "current referees, teams and players...." his foot is only high because JT is stupidly diving towards his foot... Phil
chelsea
you will not convince me otherwise, so we must agree to disagree on this one. Im not just saying it cos its chelsea and JT, because it didnt really affect the outcome and thank goodness he was ok. Just picture that kick outside the box on the field of play and I can surely visualise the ref with his whistle to his mouth - thats for sure Not just my opinion, have seen lots of chelsea fans and neutrals alike on the tv also have this opinion. Guest
you will not convince me otherwise, so we must agree to disagree on this one. possibly!! but it's just as much nonsense when you say it as when Martin says it - but you say it nicer!! his foot is waist high - to call that automatic free-kick anywhere on the pitch it simply (I'll say it again) nonsense!! the defender cannot be expected to imagine that JT's head will be waist high - that is JT's fault - and I haven't heard anyone from Chelsea FC claim anything other than that. if a waist-high foot was an automatic FK anywhere on the park - there'd be no players left by the end of the game.. watch the game again - and count how many times a foot gets waist-high - the game would have been over after 27mins (by my calculations) for sheer lack of players left on the pitch!! chelsea
I've only been thinking this after seeing the photos of the Terry incident. Terry was a lot further off the ground than I thought he was which really shocked me. I thought I was going to be sick when I saw him lying on the ground. Im just watching live phone in on Chelsea tv. Drogba is on there, and what a nice chap he is
AnnieP
I didn't see the match (no TV), so only listened to it on 5 Live. I really respect their commentators for giving an unbiassed and expert commentary. My dad, who LOVES football (would have been a pro but broke his leg ), is totally neutral, doesn't even support a team, but loves watching ALL matches, also agreed with the following: Alan Green (R5 live commentator) stated at the time of the incident, during and after the game and the other commentators agreed, that Terry's diving towards that ball with his HEAD was brave, but reckless. chelsea
I know lots of people who watched the tv but turned the sound down to listen to radio 5 commentary. Andy Gray on sky was shocking, ....the whole way through the game he was "Ooops, word censored!"nal this "Ooops, word censored!"nal that, even richard keys was dying for his studio guests to agree with him that he thought the drogba goal was offside and looked totally dumbstruck when both Redknapp and Mcallister said it was onside - I could see tumbleweeds blowing through the studio ....Im not normally so angry but I e mailed sky about his commentary. I pay over £55 a month to Sky and wasnt happy!! He is so anti Chelsea. And before all you gooners jump on my back - watch the game from a chelsea fans point of view and you will see what I mean. Sheilaz
Just joining in on commentators. I love it when John Motson is commentating. I've met him socially and he's a good chap and knows his football inside out. I like it when there's something amazing happening on the ptich & he tries to be restrained containing his excitement, it never quite works. Sometimes when I'm describing something (not football related ) I find myself lapsing into John Motson tones. "Which I find a bit worrying, to say the least, what do you think Gary?"
