abwsco
Silly question alert. I plan on doing this for tea tonight but how sloppy should the tomato mixture be. Should I use a tin of toms and throw in some fresh ones as well.
kinsk
Sounds good, it also works really well with bolognese sauce. Another variation is to put some creme fraiche ontop before the cheese. Am hungry now!
Chucky Mama
You are fab! I have some gnocchi in the fridge (bought it after DD saw it on Masterchef and wanted to give it a try) and all of the other ingredients and nothing planned for supper
abwsco
Well, it's in the oven with cherry toms as all I had plus a tin of nice chopped tomatoes as it looked too dry otherwise. Think I've overdone it with the garlic by the smell wafting through the house:lol:
Chucky Mama
Cooked and eaten! It was very simple, I added some red pepper and there was one in the fridge and needed make up for the fact that someone had scoffed half of the chirozo Will do it again, I have a potato ricer so might have a go at making the gnocchi myself next time. Cinnamon
Question about Gnocchi I have only had it once, many years ago, & found it really heavy going Did I cook it wrong (boiled,I think), or is that how it is? I like the idea of it,but was disappointed with it & have never tried it again - this recipe may change that though as it sounds delish. sunshinesupernova
I made Gnocchi yesterday (no potato version). It was very light and fluffy. I have photos if you want to see. The recipe was in the new MAy Good Food Magazine - p49
Rhapsody
I've only made potato/potato spinach gnocchi in the past but must admit I havent bothered for a while. You only cook them until they rise to the top of the pot or they go 'orrible Glad so many like the dish and it is very customisable depending on what is in the fridge! I hadn't enjoyed my attempts previously either and I had boiled it until it rose to the top of the pan. With this recipe it is baked straight from the packet (I didn't home make it) and it is lovely. It needs a reasonable amount of sauce, I have made it twice now.
abwsco
We couldn't eat it all so I froze it. Got it out of the freezer to have tomorrow but how should I reheat it? Ta

Cinnamon
This is in the oven now - super easy to throw together,so I hope its as nice as it promises to be I have also made a veggie version in a dinky little dish I picked up in John Lewis today, for the veggie daughter,& she is a real fusspot,so I will report back EDIT: Good reports all round, although next time we will use the sauce with cooked pasta & bake it in the oven. Not too keen on the Gnocchi
missuscluck
yes I thought it would go just as good as a pasta bake. We have tried this. Love it. Never had gnocchi before. 3 yes's and a not sure from my son who said he would prefer pasta. My daughter however said it would go firmly on her list of favourites. Easy to cook. We used canned toms to make it more saucy and chucked in a few other stray fridge leftovers in (mushrooms/ham) Thankyou
Rhapsody
Glad you all like it- re tomatoes as you are all adding canned I chop up a whole punnet of the value tomatoes from tescos its a 750g pack (!) and as they cook down they make plenty of sauce and its a more zesty fresh taste than the canned. Cinnamon
I used a bit of both - gives a really nice texture. They have already asked me to cook it again
