jjmack
Hi, All is going really well but the girls keep chucking the aubiose out of the run. I remembered someone saying they put lawn edging along the bottom to stop this. Tried getting some off freecycle but no joy, so cobbled something out of old polythene for time being. Anyway wilkos had some cheap lawn edging today so bought it, but how do you fix it snug to the egde of the eglu run? Do you put it on the inside or outside? Anyone got any close up pics to guide me in the right direction so that when it all warms up a bit I can psych my self up to taking it all to pieces and getting it sorted. Thanks
The Dogmother
I use lanw edging too and secure it to the outside of the run with cable ties. The work of moments and lasts for ages.
chelsea
We used feather edge board around our run. Suppose skirting board or similar would do just the job also.
Falkor
Cookie and I visited somebody with a a run and her OH had used clear perspex.....it was twice the height of the lawn edging i use which meant that even the most determined flicky chook had problems getting the Aubisoe out! It also meant you could still see the chooks...it was WAY
Cooks
yup I agree it was a very clever idea
Plum
That sounds interesting but I can never cut perspex. With the lawn edging I have it held in place with bricks.
The Dogmother
I once used planks against the edges of the eglu run after some silly little day-olds insisted on taunting the cats by poking their heads through the run mesh
Redwing
I use cheap cladding wood held in place with tent pegs I use a strip on the inside of the Egly door end so I can still open the door
jjmack
Thanks for those ideas. Sorry for being a bit dim, but Claret how do you attach with cable ties? Do you punch holes in the lawn edging? The tent peg idea is good, I will have to see which works best J
The Dogmother
I used a very sharp bradawl to make the holes in the lawn edging (you have to be careful as it's quite fragile) then used narrow cable ties to keep it in place. It's easier to do with two of you; one inside the run and one outside.

I used OH heavy duty hole punch from the office and didn`t clean it before I returned it to his desk.....I got a little bit told off

DonnaS
Can we get some more photo examples maybe? Always better to visualise that way. I'll be facing the same problem soon and would like to figure out the best solution if possible. Cheers. Donna
Plum
The brick version only suitable for on slabs or fox will dig under. 9inch lawn edging on top of 1 row of bricks and held in place with others.
sadietoo
Sorry to add my two penneth..I bought corrugated clear plastic roofing panel thingy from Band Q and cut it into strips with the kitchen scissors...(I'm very girly about my DIY so this wasn't difficult) and then attached that with cable ties along the bottom of my run (outside)...works a treat and cost next to nothing
