He'd even made them a little heater to huddle around at night, so I think he does care about his chickens and he's made the best of what he's got. I agree ... he does seem to care for them, and the mesh isn't too bad considering some of the conditions other hens are kept in. I'm sure the chickens would be happy with that, the plastic we choose is mainly for us, they don't really have a preference if all their needs are fulfilled.
