Guest
a theme tune popped into my head for some reason and i can't remember the name of the prog and it's driving me mad, help! there was a weekly tv series in the 70s for kids that featured show jumping and carriage driving etc. It had a memorable theme tune and I thought it was presented by sue barker but i can't find it on google. Anyone remember what it was called?
Snowy
My goodness Poet, you have me stumped. I thought I knew everything horsey in the 70s but I can only remember 2 horsey programmes - Follyfoot (the Lightening Tree) and White Horses. Can't believe I missed one! TAJ
Yes I was going to say Follyfot, with the lightening tree theme tune, but the description doesn't fit. Tracy
bettyhen
Haven`t got a clue what it would have been called or the theme music, but I vaguely remember a horsey programme presented by Anne Moore (used to ride a horse called Psalm). Maybe that`s it Sue

Guest
snowy, I was horse obsessed as a kid! This is me at 2 years old http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4717120&l=d75b087f38&id=568396756 I had posters of horses rather than pop stars on my walls. My dad couldn't drive past a field of horses without me wanting to stop and stroke them. When we were on holiday, the first thing I'd make my mum and dad do was find the nearest stables so i could book a hack I never missed a prog on tv that had anything to do with horses! Had to take piriton every time i went riding but eventually even the piriton didn't work I only have to be near a horse now and my eyes swell, i itch all over and I sneeze uncontrollably! Valkyrie
Poor Poet. When I was little they used to do pony rides at the park in Staines. Apparently I used to wait for the little white one - which dad used to refer to as my horse because he spent enough money on it and felt he'd virtually bought it! I was always drawing and painting horses and donkeys - fuelled by my grandparents living in the New Forest. Then when I started working I had riding lessons - one of the horses had hayfever! Then I stopped for a long time and didn't ride until Erin was having lessons. Had a fabulous time and good instructors - although I fell off and found out I was actually mortal and was lucky not to injure myself. Oh Eggy! What a little dinky! When we went on a family hliday to the new forest my mum said i tried to drag one of the ponies inot the car with me via the window! Oh that little falabella is so adorable!!!!! Look at him in his cute little coat, what a gprgeous boy!
Guest
my best birthday was when i was 9 and i got a new Harry Hall riding hat and jodphurs, proper riding boots, riding gloves and lovely leather crop. I used to buy horsey stuff with my pocket money; curry combs, brushes and a headcollar, ready for when i got my own horse! A girl can dream! Space Chick
I have always loved horses, but only ever ridden once. I went on a hack when I was in the Brownies, and my horse ran down a steep embankment, I don't think I have ever been so scared and just held on for dear life. It has put me off riding for life, however, I love to give horses a fuss and a cuddle, just not whilst sat on them

Snowy, you have just brought back a huge tidal wave of memories with Follyfoot and White Horses - as a horse-mad child of the same era I was obsessed with both, and madly in love with the character Steve in Follyfoot. I had the books and everything. White horses was also the same vintage as Belle and Sebastian which included a large husky-like (?) dog. The only other horse-related children's series I loved, although slightly later was Flambards. I still have the books. Anyone remember that? Valkyrie
No, but I remember Follyfoot and the theme tune. I remember the name Flambards, but that might be down to a theme park in Helston - closed now I believe. I read all the Silver Brumby stories - I know some people thought them to be awful, but I loved them. Cried with Black Beauty and poor Ginger. At least the horses weren't killed off in the TV series (not that I remember anyway). Loved the White Horses. Erin used to watch The Chatterhappy Ponies which was filmed up the road (she rode some of them and Daisy is indeed bolshy and Strop threw her into the jumps and she liked the white one best who's name I can't remember, there was a little black one that was quite cute too). But that was more in the 90's - only the ponies spoke and humans made waffley sounds. Perhaps Eggy's daughter remembers that programme. Redwing
h you couldnt beat the Pullein-Thompson pony books, I still have a load stashed in my spare room I had show ponies as a child and a lovely Welsh cob until I was 18, many many many happy hours were spent with that lovely horse
