Patricia W
I borrowed one of these last week and was mightily impressed. But am wondering if they are worth the huge price they seem to be. Anyone got one? Tricia
Saronne
I've got one and I love it! It copes really well with bread doughs, batters, scone mixes, etc. I also have a pasta attachment and a meat grinding attachment. Good stuff. They are a lot cheaper in the States (where they originate), but you'll need a 240V European one.... (Kenwood does some really good-looking, hard-working mixers for less. I'd check out Amazon ) Saronne xx
..lay a little egg for me
I have an 1970s Kenwood Chef bought on eBay for £25. It is fantastic and makes great cakes and there are loads of attachments for them. They last forever...unless you do something stupid like not inserting the beater properly and then leaving it mixing while you go out of the kitchen so don't realize the beater has part dropped out and is jammed inside the mixing bowl while the motor burns out . That is what I did with the old one I inherited from my Mum, hence buying another from eBay!
chickencam
I love my Kenwood too. I have a Major and it is great, not as funky as the Kitchen Aid but by all accounts more hard wearing.
Patricia W
I was in Canada last week so was using it over there. It was the power that I found so impressive. Till then I'd thought of the Kenward so interested to hear your responses. Tricia
abwsco
No idea what the prices will be like but QVC have KitchenAid on the 22nd March. Just found one at £298.92 on there.
Patricia W
ooh that's cheaper than the one I saw - although that had a good few attachments and was £305. I'm feeling tempted again.... Is it more powerful than the Kenwood? Tricia
abwsco
Details from QVC Tricia. It's only in white but they may have more choice in the run up to the show. "The 4.25 litre stainless steel bowl comes with a flat beater, dough hook and wire whip and boasts a 10 speed power control, so whipping up your cake mixtures will be done easily and quickly. It also comes with a handy vegetable slicer and shredder and an instructions booklet with mixing tips"

The Dogmother
I love my Kenwood - it's nearly 35 years old and still going strong with regular servicing and only one part needing replacing.
Chickendoodle
I've got a Kitchenaid (Yellow!) and it is fab. Can't recommend it highly enough
Lesley
What are they like for small amounts? I've just made a pud which only used 2 egg whites in one bowl and just 2oz butter and 4oz sugar in another and wondered if I'd forever be reverting to my hand mixer for recipes like this. Chickendoodle
Great for small amounts - there is a finely tuned adjuster so that the mixing bits just sweep the botton of the bowl. The bread dough hook is ace too There are very often offers on them when they discontinue a particular colour. Worth waiting for one of these if you can bear to
Becka
I love mine - shiny silver metal. I bought it for my husband's 40th Birthday. He was delighted and I can honestly say he's never used it. On the other hand, I use it almost every day and sometimes three times as day. I use it for bread, cakes, meringues, biscuits, mashed potato, mixing meat for burgers and many more things needing mixer power. Seagazer
I've just been looking on t'internet and its quite confusing as to the difference between models and prices - there's a difference of a £100 between classic and artisan. OH is quite relieved that there is something I actually want for my birthday, although he thinks everyone will rib him about it
LJ's Chooks
We've got the black artisan and we love it!!!!
Seagazer
We won £100 worth of John Lewis vouchers in a raffle last night so I might use them towards my mixer for my birthday next week. I think JL do the Artisan mixer.

Patricia W
So what's the difference between the classic and the artisan? Tricia
Seagazer
I read somewhere that the Artisan has a bigger motor and slight bigger bowl. Not sure if thats all.
