chickiepiggies
Hi everyone I have an Amber star called snowy, i've had her since oct last year she was about 16 weeks when i had her. My question is. Are they generally a small light chicken. she is very light in weight compared to my other three, she eats as normal with the others she has treats, is not off her food, but doesn't seem to be putting much weight on. She has been like this since i got her small and light. I call her my little dove as i can sit her on my hand and pick her up with no effort. is it ok for her to be like this?? or should i be worried. poo is fine she has been laying but seems to have stopped for a bit not sure why. they get wormed, treated for lice/mites etc. thanks
Cinnamon
Hi, Yes,Amber Stars, like White Stars a smaller & more delicate than some of the other breeds. So long as she seems well 7 is laying well,I don't think you have too much to worry about
Gelbel
Grace was an Amber Links - all part of the same Amber group - much smaller and lighter than my other two. She started laying first and did practically everyday. She was as greedy as the others for treats but had a right temper on her when she wanted to. Chucky Mama
I have 2 Amber Stars and 1 is quite small, she doesn't carry any weight but she is as fit a a fiddle and probably our best layer.
Space Chick
I have a white star, she is very light weight, but very healthy, eats like a horse and lays HUGE eggs
Laura & CTB
This was my amber star Prada (RIP) --she was a real slimline girl *cough cough* as you can see She said it was all feathers
chickiepiggies
Thanks all for replies. my snowy is also very greedy dives in head first and sticks her bum in the air when i put treats out and she stamps all of it the only thing i'm concern about is she doesn't seem to be laying, she was almost everyday and now nothing only one egg off sooty. I'm worming them at the moment see if that makes any difference, they were all due a treatment anyway. i also found a soft shell and a egg still in its membrain this morning, it was in the cube tray she's seems to be the only one that like to perch on the bars in the cube so me thinks that might have been her. can these softies be normal for a young bird? they get a cabbage to peck at, and some pellet porridge in the mornings and a small portion of corn in the afternoons. i give them some natural yoghurt mixed with pellets once every few weeks. not sure what else to do.
