captaincollins
Hi, this may be a silly question, but I am thinking of putting guttering up at the bottom of the roof (its gonna be sloped) and then feed this into a water drinker. Does anyone think this is a bad idea? I cant see rain water being bad for them as its what they would have in the wild.
Egluntyne
Seems reasonable to me, given that mine would rather drink from a foetid puddle that a sparkling clean drinker full of clean water any day. The only thing that I would suggest is that if there are overhanging trees, and the possibility of wild birds pooing in the gutter, it might not be such a good idea. The Dogmother
So long as the water is cleanish and not stored in a water butt, I can't see why not. Egluntyne has given the only reservation I'd have.
chickyhazel
Good idea I'd say that is fine. The chickens will probably love it!
Chucky Mama
Most animals seem to prefer rainwater or water out of puddles but I am not suprised, our tap water taste like something out of a swimming pool sometimes.
beulah59
Could you put some apple cider vinegar in the drinker from time to time to help keep bugs at bay?
