chickyhazel
We have been letting our 2 new girls free range with our old girls for several days in a small bit of garden and today decided to let them out into the entire garden. The 4 old girls raced off but the new girls refused to go out. They are not bullied by the others, in fact, we think one of them is going to become top chicken without a major fight as our top chicken is ill. Is there any reason why? Forge Cottage
Our Gertie has always been a cautious character too... I respect it as survival instinct. If something scarey did happen, I am sure she would be the lone survivor! ... . .. ... (scared Gertie at the back)
Redwing
If you have just got them and if they are young then chances are they will have spent a decent amount of their life so far indoors as they will have been young over winter so they may not be used to being outdoors, some of mine that hatched last Oct/Nov have only seen grass for the first time recently
sjp
my 2 new girls have only been FR for about 10 days and they stay close to they're run door but each time they are let out they go a bit farther into the garden it was the same with my hybrids last year they'd not been out side till I let they out give it a week or so then your find they're in to every part of the garden looking for worms and bugs and a like
McChook
Not sure - agrophobia maybe Lol, that's what we said about our new girls when we let them out at the weekend! I thought they could have a lovely wander around the garden whilst I cleaned out the run, but every time I turned around, they were back in watching what I was doing
