Forge Cottage
Poultry Corn We buy Badminton poultry corn in a big yellow sack that lasts for ages. Well it does for 3 girls anyway! I have been wondering: ContentIs there anything about Poultry Corn that makes it different from regular Corn, or particularly suitable for Chooks? Or is it just the peckable size? Corn PricesHow much are you guys paying for Corn? I buy this at £6.20, which seems cheap... I have heard that this is on sale at over £13 for the same size sack. What is the norm? Popcorn ideaIt looks like good clean stuff. Is it fit for human consumption? Do you reckon we could make Popcorn with it? Or bread flour? Do chickens eat Popcorn?? They seem to like the telly! How about Layers Pellets? I am paying about £7.50 for a 20kg sack of Fancy Feed pellets. The next pallet will have the 50p off vouchers again, which makes it, well, chicken feed... I buy from an animal feed merchant. Is this the normal price?
Redwing
They sound about right I pay about £6 for 'mixed corn' - the cheaper the sack the more wheat will be in it, its never all corn £13 may be for pure corn/whole maize maybe? I pay £7.80 for Garvo layers pellets (IMHO the very best available on the market) but prices can range from £5.40 for own brand pellets for an agricultural merchant (you normally get 25kg though) to about £13 for branded pellets from Pets at Home Largely like anything else you get what you pay for up to about £10 a sack, anything over that seems expensive regardless of make
Forge Cottage
Thanks Redwing. I will resist the temptation to make popcorn then!
chickyhazel
Mixed Poultry Corn has lots of different things suitable for chickens in it, and the chickens love it, especially the maize! The prices are normal. I don't know about making popcorn with poultry corn, but actually chickens love eating the burnt bits of popcorn we sometimes give them so it might be similar stuff!
