ISCA
Is it just me or are the Halifax ads with the DJs/Halifax staff members just the most cringe worthy advertisements ever? Even makes the GoCompare ads bearable and thats saying something
Egluntyne
I think the Go Compare ads have the edge. They are truly grim.
Lesley
I have to agree - Go Compare are really awful
Space Chick
Now when Halifax WAS a building society the ads were brilliant. Anyone remember the cardcash one, when that gorgeous man goes out to cash some money walking down the road, smoothing a cat etc and the tune was Easy (like a Sunday morning), now that was a quality advert
Chucky Mama
Definately Go Compare, the first one was good but now they've completely killed the joke.
chickweed
The Halifax and Go Compare ads are awful, but it has got people talking about them. I wonder if their sales figures have improved as as a result? These companies must have done their research before deciding to continue with this approach. LuckyChickenLover-
The advert I can't stand is the 'We buy any car' one.

My own favourite is the Compare the Meerkat ad. DW would probably not say the same as I can now do a passable imitation

ubereglu
They are both awful. What I hate about the Halifax adverts is how they make it sound like they're paying you a really good rate of interest, when actually they're not, as you have to have a certain amount invested with them...Cheeky people. Cinnamon
Cringeworthy. Almost as bad as 'Shake n Vac' & 'Ferrero Rocher' In fact I will never, never ever bank with Halifax,in light of their ads.

A chickychickychick-ENN!!
I think I'm the only person in the country who finds Go compare ads funny. That simpering, thick, smug - oooh don't get me started!!! Isa Isa Baby Halifax woman though - I feel very aggressive towards her. It's the complicity of the actors in talking down to Halifax's customers and potential customers with such drooling, base, lowest common denominator contempt without imparting any product knowledge that makes my blood boil. I've trained OH to turn them off as soon as they come on, or else I start in with some loud, unsavoury language. What part of them possibly sells the bank in a good light?! I've just found her on the interweb. She's done proper theatre and she does this!!! http://www.uk.castingcallpro.com/view.php?uid=62861 Surely there's more dignity in cleaning toilets?! Cinnamon
We have also boycotted Shreddies since the 'knitted by Nanas' campaign. The children said they wouldn't eat them if old ladies had had their fingers all over them Advertising is such a powerful medium

mostin
Now when Halifax WAS a building society the ads were brilliant. Anyone remember the cardcash one, when that gorgeous man goes out to cash some money walking down the road, smoothing a cat etc and the tune was Easy (like a Sunday morning), now that was a quality advert That was a truly classic ad even the shake 'n' vac add is kind of an 80's classic looking back , but those new ones of Halifax and go compare . Things get thrown in our house if they come on .
Yorkshire Pudding
Ours too Mostin. The kids sing the 'we buy any car' song and that is also banned.... as is 'Go Compaaaaaaare'. What was that film set in the future where music has been replaced by advertising jingles?... I think it was a Schwarzenegger one. Ads like these make me worry that it could really happen! What that woman does with her head while whispering 'ISA ISA' is unnatural - makes me cringe.
Gelbel
I think I'm the only person in the country who finds Go compare ads funny. We like it in this house too. I CANNOT stand the co-op food adverts. It's the man's accent (sorry) and the way he says "Good with food" that sound like he is saying, "Good with fould" (as in rhyming with could). Now any of the O2 ads is good for me - Sean Bean's voice - well Sean Bean full stop but that is another topic for another day.
