PurpleTree
Hi I'm back. Just discovered my first ever softy egg in the nest box, then I found the beginning of a wasps nest in the shed Why do these things happen just as I'm going away? What do you all think on the softy? I had 3 perfect eggs yesterday. I have a feeling Squeak may have laid it, she hasn't really had a break over the Winter, there's a few feathers appearing all over the garden so I'm wondering if she's having a moult now, would that make her lay a softy? They all seemed fine today, bright eyed and bushy tailed, spent the whole day in the garden. The other thing I was wondering was I haven't given any ACV for a few days, due to running low and not having chance to go anywhere and get some more. Isn't that meant to help prevent softy's? Would stopping it have affected her this quickly? Really hoping it's a one off as my grampy is looking after them for the weekend, he won't know what it is if he finds a softy. Space Chick
I am watching the debate....... I am getting very very angry They are ALL talking out of their backsides, and are waffling on and insulting the other sides, without saying anything really substantial This is no good for my blood pressure PT - Softies happen now and then, I wouldn't worry I would type more except I have one hand down my sofa Lyns you make me laugh

It reminded me of the Random Acts of Kindness feature that Scott Mills used to do on Radio One...I would be driving home from work balling my eyes out most nights....some people are just SO nice. PurpleTree
Thanks Debs, it was just a shock as I've never had one before, and going away tomorrow Just looked at my calender they're going to be 2 years old in a couple of weeks. Do they get more common as they get older?
Space Chick
They are common when they first come into lay, and then common again as they start getting older. I get a few softies from Barbara my ex batt, who must be about 2 and a half now. She is happy, and she is healthy and she is fine. Just one of those things
Falkor
I have had a couple of softees in the last few days PT...I have put it down to the heat of the last few days. As Debs said, wouldn`t worry too much at this stage.
PurpleTree
Thanks for the reassurance Knew I could count on you lot. Just hope for my grampy's sake there's no more over the weekend. I've only told him to collect eggs and refresh their water, and obviously check on food levels but that should last for the few days. Finding the wasp nest didn't help either. Luckily it was only just started and just one massive wasp on it. Hubby attacked it with a can of de-icer (all we had to hand) then knocked the nest off. Hope another wasp doesn't come along and start another one. Really hate wasps
