Lewis
Happy Birthday for t'other day Josh Good luck with the goats! 'Big sis' came round + we went to hers + had a chinese 100mb is plenty Cooks! Night Debs + Shirl Still nothing from the chicks, have had a look at the early Poland (its on day 23) and its air sac is over half the egg (humidity problem?), so too big + I think it might be stuck on the membrane Don't know what to do cos of breaking the blood vessels, but it'll die anyway if it can't get out
Redwing
Has it pipped? if not give it a dip in warm water for a few seconds and put it back in the inccy You could try making a hole for it but try not to intervene and dont take it out of the shell if you can avoid it at all
Lewis
No its not pipped internally, just the air sac is really big. Made a hole in the top of the shell where the air sac is + you can see that the membrane is sticking to it + the blood vessels are still there so won't break the membrane. Can see its still breathing + moving, but I think its too squished to do anything Should I wet the membrane or should it be drying out
Falkor
Morning all! So Lewis, any news? I am spending the day with a certain Cookie Monster today (personally I think she is just after Gin and the chicks ) so I really should go and sort the dishwasher otherwise we will have no cups for coffee and that would be scandalous! Chicken Shirl
Morning all. What a dilemma Lewis, rather you the me. looking on the bright side you could have a miracle on your hands. I Hope so.*fingers crossed for the egg bound chickie* Taking some of my internet purchases to the post office this morning. The colours of the t shirts were not true to the photos, and one of the pairs of trousers were far too low on the hips for a woman of my years. Am happy with the rest though. I have broken the broody Tufty, and she is back in the garden chasing the wild birds off the food bowls. So all normal again for a week or two. Thinking of you going to get the car fixed this morning Debs, and wishing that you feel on top form after yesterday.x Hope your all mended now Em and eating for England.x Have a happy day everyone.x
Lewis
Morning Was too late for the little poland Don't know about the others now ... tis day 23 so probably the last day anything will happen, and none have pipped. Will leave them in just cos theres nothing to lose. You can bob them in warm water to see if they're alive I think, so might do that before I turn them off. Roll on 3 weeks for the next due date! Sunny here so have been trying to hose all the debris back into the borders - am fighting a losing battle! Sorry to hear about the Poland Lewis. So the eggs are going to have a swimming lesson are they - better make sure Fred is on hand just in case one gets into trouble. Time to ask your mum to sit with you in the car methinks.
