Mollie333
On the 9th of April 2010 my beautiful turkey, Cheryl, got attacked by a fox. She has two bite wounds under her wing and was lucky not to be killed. The cuts are very deep still, but healing fine. She is improving quite well, and can now run, she is laying eggs daily and eating and drinking fine, back to her normall self. This topic will be here just to remind me, and you just how well cheryl is doing, here are some pictures of cheryls recovery. Sorry i had to add a picture of my new silkie Enjoy:) x

Mollie333
Hi everyone thankyou for all the lovely comments. yes, she is names after cheryl cole, she wakes me up with her.. 'lovely' singing at 6am every day. Well one of the chickens Deardre did not survive the fox attack, but the other 6 who was in a big shock, survived fine. The vet explained how lucky cheryl was, and if the fox went for the neck, then she would be dead. The chicken specialist vet told us that cheryl was probably trying to hel her fellow chickens, by fighting the fox off, but i think by then it was too late, deardree was dead, and cheryl was next. there is still feathers in my neighbours garden from where cheryl got attacked, i get so emotinal near that place, because i just know that deardree has gone, and cheryl was badly injured. The vet also said that cheryl was lucky to get away, she has got a hard peck on her. just before the attackI shouted cheryl- no sign, i thought okay then she must be in my neighbours garden, so i just left it as she is a plesure to all of the neighbour hood, everyone loves cheryl! but then all the chickens were carrying on bwaking for england, i checked all of them over and counted them.. John, edward, betty rita, effy, blanche. i couldnt find dear and cheryl.. then out of no where cheryl limped up the drive up too 2 of my neighbours, they didnt realize the HUGE cut near her back. she is a very sensible girl and goes to a manly figure who can protect her, im so glad that shes a tame as she is. (she thinks that my dad is her dad haha) so basically cheryl tried to protect her fellow hen friends. i'm really glad that 6 out of 8 birds didnt get harmed/killed though. i thank cheryl, as i thought the fox would of took all of the bantams without a doubt if she didnt ut up a fight to get away. :') sorry about the essay, but these are my belifes, i love cheryl, i dont know what i would do without her. Mollie333
Thankyou, she is very beauitful. i was thinking about letting her run with a turkey stag..and get chicks.. but i don't want her to get hurt, cause they can be quite violent, so i guess i'll be giving that one a miss.. she is a broody little madam now, turfing her out of the box every 10 mins (have to keep it open because john edward blanche betty rita and effy all want to lay in there, too
