Productive crop for a shaded area?

Recommended Posts

We have a big garden,& the very bottom has only really just been used for the past couple of years.

Its very woody & shaded down there,& we have found that Rhubarb grows a treat, but wondered if there was anything else that we can grow which is productive & would enjoy the woodland, damp conditions?

wild garlic would love it and I agree, raspberries too.

Nuts would also be a good bet, not many folk think to grow them nowadays but there's nothing like fresh cobnuts...they're just delicious.

Jerusalem artichokes might be worth a go as they are very tall and may be able to reach up to the light and finally, I have gooseberry bushes beneath my trees which crop well (when the chooks don't get them) despite living in constant dappled shade.

Yes,I bought a few earlier this year on your recommendation & they are doing really well in my permanent plants area.

I am really excited to see what they will produce later this year.

How do they take to being transplanted once they have cropped???
