Naughty Hamburgers!

Recommended Posts

I've got two gold penciled Hamburg pullets who are about 14 weeks old. This week, along with their two chums Mister Whatsizname and Pingu, they've been intergrating with my flock in the hope that I can move them from their pen in the garage and have one less house to clean out. They've been thoroughly enjoying free ranging and learning about their place in chicken society. Bedtimes are a problem though  At the weekend one of the Hamburgs decided to leap onto my shoulder from a standing start! She settled down to roost there! I could see her sister thinking it was a great idea so quickly picked her up and put them both in the garage  Last night when I went out to supervise bedtime one of the Hamburgs was nowhere to be seen  The remaining one (they are called Cheese & Pickle but I haven't a clue which is which because they're so alike!), MW and Pingu were really distressed because they couldn't find her so we all sat down for a cuddle. And then I spotted her out of the corner of my eye, about six foot up an overgrown tree/bush/shrubby type thing  So of course I got the camera out

While I had the camera out there I decided to take a photo of the French Wheaten Marans chicks, took this one:

...... then heard a commotion, turned around and saw this:

Pingu & MW were only annoyed that they couldn't join them  I managed to get them down but I suspect that persuading these two girls to move into a coop in the garden is going to be very difficult

 That is lovely! My gold campine is very similar in looks to your hamburgers and she also likes to be high up! I often catch her on the bird feeders in the trees, the others hate her for it! She can also fly over my head from a standstill - she does it when i go into the feed shed, the others attack from ground level, she goes straight over my head through the door

Beautiful girls, i have two sets of twins, really hard to tell apart when i first got them, they soon grew older and grow different features! My two warrens/gingernuts looked the same, but then rita grew white feathers. John and edward still look the same i guess, but to me its like having identical twins. There beautiful.

effy, rita with the white tail, betty, jon and edward.
