Has to go for an MRI scan tomorrow in Ellesmere Port a 160 mile round trip.Vet thought she had vestibular disease but it seems to be lasting too long. She won't eat or drink and has to be carried outside it's awful as she is normally such a lively dog a typical Border Collie, send her some positive vibes please :(

Thanks everyone she is now home after MRI, lumber punctures, bloods etc. All negative! I am now £600 poorer the rest of the 2.5K is paid by insurance thank Goodness. The result is the vet thinks she has geriatric vestibular disorder which might get better on it's own. I don't know how she will cope with going from being a fit dog to an old granny with a wobbly head virtually overnight though :)

Oh bless her. Its surprising what dogs can put up with though. For the last few years of my old dog's life she lived with increasing tremors in her legs and eventually up to her head. She also s"Ooops, word censored!"ed her feet as she walked and sometimes would lose her footing but she just carried on and was a happy old girl. The vet did put her on one of those diet foods (b/d) I think it was. Sally had a degenerative neuro-muscular disorder - we found that out from a £2,500 trip to a specialist vet with an MRI at the local hospital.

It is not uncommon and it does come on quite dramatically. A good percentage come through it with careful nursing (balance is poor so she will need support to go to the loo and to eat - they can vomit as they get symptoms like motion sickness. Is she at home or in the hospital? Good luck, fingers crossed for you.

She's back home now. We had the night of vomiting the kitchen floor was awash. But she is improving every day the head is still wobbly but her balance is better and she is taking herself outside to do her duty and she is eating again. So we just have to hope that she keeps on improving.
