foreveryoung
Hello, was awoken again to an awful racket this morning, the girls are at the bottom of a 100ft garden. the other week I went out there as fast as i could in my PJ's, fell over as I missed the wall (its only a ft high and is in the WIR) to find next doors cat on the roof (they're not fussed bout those) and a magpie's croaking.... I thought it was another fox attack, walked back in shaking, my nerves were shot that morning... this morning all I herd was a magpie and a load of bock bockking...... are they really a bother to the hens????? Egluntyne
Mine always give the magpies and crows a telling off. Can you rig something flappy up to scare the magpie away?
foreveryoung
the girls are in a WIR with a poly carb roof and welded mesh on the sides (donno if the magpies can get through for the eggs??) ive thought about putting old cds over the run but we have a slows tree at the back (on school grounds so cant remove it)
Daffodill
Mine are upset by rooks -they really don't like it when the baby rooks are being fed near their run at least the rooks make more noise than the chickens so the neighbours cannot complain as the rooks start at dawn

Alis girls
My chucks just stare at the magpie who has a nest in our tree and "clacks" at them. They exchanged pleasantries with him today and he was quite agitated. They were int he run so didnt feel threatened.
