dancing cloud Posted June 6, 2010 Share Posted June 6, 2010 I know I've not posted for ages - family issues, long story - but I have dropped by every now and then to make sure you and yours are all well. Me and 7 ex-batts are all fine and Chance recently celebrated two full years out of her cage A plea for positive Omlet vibes for tomorrow afternoon, as I have an interview for promotion at work, starting at 2.45 and lasting an hour. There's three of us going for two Director jobs which sounds hopeful, but last year the other two were actually named as getting these two jobs by the same people that are now interviewing. It was part of a bigger reshuffle that the councillors rejected and this time there is at least a pretence of a recuitment process, and I REALLY want one of the jobs (don't mind which) . I'm trying to be realistic and not build up my hopes too much, but at the very least I'd like my presentation to go well and perform really well at the interview, so all the positive vibes you can spare please Many thanks! Aimee Posted June 6, 2010 Share Posted June 6, 2010 Don't be put off about the fact that two people were lined up for the jobs last time - a lot can change in a year and you can't be sure the interview panel have already decided - they have to give you all a fair chance. Rather than giving the other two any thought, remember that the only peron you are competing against is yourself and if you can leave the presentation and interview knowing you've done the best you can, that's all that matters. Lots of luck for tomorrow - keep calm, hydrated and avoid too much caffeine in the run up - you don't want to be overly jittery! Ooh, although you didn't ask, someone gave me a great interview tip a few weeks back when I having one. They told that when you are asked a question in the interview, think about your answer in bullet points before replying, then stick to them. This avoids waffling and digressing. The interviews are still going on, so no outcome yet, but I did my very best and I didn't let you down I promise. I still suspect it will be the same choice as last year, though I also suspect I may have made that choice a little more difficult and have raised my own profile in the organisation a bit - no bad thing. One of the interviewers was my line manager, the other the Chief Exec, and I will be going to talk to them both about where I go from here and what might be available.
