Cherry has been unwell for a few days now. not eating, sleeping a lot and just generally not doing much... eating a little here and there and drank a little too. Slept a lot and didnt move around much either. We thought she had a trapped egg in her abdomen and had her inside and were advised to hold her above boiling steaming water and try to relax her abdomen so it would help her release the egg...

 

Cherry was laying there in the bucket and just sleeping and not moving and all of a sudden kymberley says she started twitching as if she was trying to flap her wings but her wings were rigid and she was gasping for air and all of a sudden when i came in to look she had stopped moving. Stopped breathing, so i checked for breathing and any sign of movement/life and there was none.

 

Cherry passed away at 1:35pm 24/6/2010 R.I.P our little girl

it is very sad, we love our little henny pennies. obviously we enjoyed the time we had cherry with us.

 

The other 5 seem ok,none of them have what ever Cherry had so we think it was internal and not some sorton infection etc....

thanks everyone, i have been crying all day, my partner, John hasnt but is still very upset, the shock is worse than anything, i was holding her and then put her down and she just died in her sleep, very peacefully and i know she was probably in pain as it was an internal complication but im just so upset, i keep thinking to count 6 but only 5 are there...

its horrid when u loose one.............. they maybe chickens to other ppl but they are our beloved pets.... am sorry you lost one of ur girls
