a campingsite/field for a wedding bar b q in Hants

Recommended Posts

Hello all omeleters, i need some help.

my daughter and I live in Hampshire and wishes have an informal reception afternoon/evening in a field with everyone camping,

this will be family providing everything no outside caterers posh tables etc. just home cooked food and Bar b Q, and lots of bunting and deckchairs. it is surprising how many places say oh no we dont have large groups. they are obviously imagining the worst.

Does anyone know of a suitable field or if you have such a place. it is for friday sept 17th

a field that is already used as a rally site would be good.

back of a pub ? farm?

we would pay rent for the field.

thankyou

Sounds lovely - what about a pub with a field? Or one of the further education colleges in Hampshire - I think all of them have still got playing fields etc. Sparsholt College near Winchester, where they hold Gardeners' Question Time has loads of space. But there are over 20 colleges in Hampshire. They'll charge though, I expect.

You may have problems with elf and safety unless someone has permission to hold such events? I'm no expert though.

One of my friends is getting married this year and was using his local pub garden for his wedding. Unfortunately the poor landlady has died and the pub ownership has now gone to probate so they can't have it there. They are now using one of the local farmers fields, they literally just went and knocked on his door and asked him, he was happy to let them use it. So it may be worth your while just doing the same. :)

Good Luck - hope all the wedding plans go smoothly. :)

I've just been nosing on the web for young farmers groups in Hants and just found this:

http://www.netmums.com/listings/HOME/north_hants/107/North_East_Hants_Young_Farmers_County_Show//90239804/

Might be a bit of a long shot but if they have room to have a Young Farmers Show the field may still be vacant come September and they may be willing to rent it out to you. :)

thank you every one we are still searching. it is amazing how many campsites say no groups and wont even consider doing it. yet we could if we wanted to each book individually so it doesnt seem to make sense.

i cant see us making more noise than a rowdy family with 6 kids.

we not having generators and tvs blaring like some people.

That place is only a couple of miles from me. The field in question is right at the side of a busy road so may not be ideal for a reception. Good thought though! (and the Farm Shop is not bad!)

Good luck finding somewhere. It sounds like such a lovely reception. It makes me think of Cold Comfort farm, I want to get married again and have a reception like that. If I think of anywhere I will say. :D

It's not in Hants but I recently recommended a campsite in Cheddar, quite relaxed, might be good.

campsite

You can have fires which are always great.
