SallyD
Hi Can anyone recommend suitable water containers for four week old chicks? At the moment they have a small shallow dish that i refill, when necessary, during the day. But I'm going on holiday soon and will be leaving my son in charge , I know he'll take good care of them but he'll be at work during the day so won't be able to check on their water supply. Any ideas please? Thanks Sally
sjp
I switched mine over to a 4ltr mushroom drinker at about 3 weeks from a narrow lipped drinker and they took to it really well I also raised it up on 4 block paviers to try to keep it from getting to much dirt etc in I've got a dotte broody that loves to dig and scratch at a million miles an hour
karlotta
I've found this one to be very good. http://www.flytesofancy.co.uk/chickenhouses/Jam_Jar_Chick_Feeder_1kg.html I've used it most recently with my baby poland bantams.
Redwing
I've found this one to be very good. http://www.flytesofancy.co.uk/chickenhouses/Jam_Jar_Chick_Feeder_1kg.html I've used it most recently with my baby poland bantams. yes that one is very good, its better than most jam jar ones as the base is nice and deep - they chuck bedding in to shallow ones
Madchook
Rabbit bottles!!! I know it sounds weird, but having tried most containers out there they are far and away the best as nothing gets in the water and they don't repeatedly flood their bedding. Chicks have no issue using them either- normally I give a jar jar lid for the first couple of days but my last lot discovered the bottle on the first day in the brooder. If you have lots of chicks you need to put more than one in as they all like to drink at the same time
Cheryl
I agree with Karlotta and Redwing the ones they have shown I think are very very good.. I have tried a few. the mushroom style ones are hard to clean, so I wouldnt recommend them..
