bronze
I'm looking forward to moving (if we ever do sigh) as I'm going to completely change the tv watching rules. Several things are going to get broken in the move so as to get them all out of habit and they will take a while to fix, playstation being one. I'm thinking this will be a much easier way to implement MY rules.
Krysia
Bronze! your mean! but I like your style! Thats the sort of thing I would do! In our house only Daddy can fix things (even simple things like new battries!) he has just gone to lithuania till friday so roll on the noisy toys that need new battries! I don't allow them for sleepovers either... call me mean, but they enjoy themselves just as much; last sleepover they spent ages knitting 'the world's longest French knitting rope' Edited August 10, 2010 by Guest
..lay a little egg for me
One TV here between 3 of us. DS plays on the Wii or watches some kids TV in the early evening and then (after eating dinner together in the TV-free kitchen) at 9pm we enforce "adults' time" and he has to watch what we want to watch or go to bed. We do have 3 computers though! He is only 11 so I guess the begging for a TV in his room will begin soon. I intend to hold firm against it. Happy chickens!
3 tvs, lounge, (kids - bt vision, great no ads) snug (grown ups hardly ever on) and bedroom (me when doing the ironing!!), but 5 pcs/laptops Bronze if you want mean, in our house I try to ration 'screen time' ie anything staring at screen be it tv, wii, ds, pc etc etc etc.
batcatz
I find the computer addictive! I do have the TV on in the background sometimes in the evenings, but am generally to be found on the computer. Haha, that's exactly what I do. Tele on in morning in background while I'm on the laptop reading Omlet, checking bank accounts, emailing etc. Then leave TV (freesat) on for parrot or if I remember switch it off and put radio on instead... trying to get into the habit to save electricity and sometimes he has silence for a change. Then same again in the evening. I call it multitasking. I hardly record anything unless it's a good BBC drama like Ashes to Ashes or The secret life of chicken. My Mum recorded everything and I think that has affected me. hahah. The internet must be the new TV.
Valkyrie
One TV in the lounge and one TV in our bedroom. Our son bought himself a TV for his room - he usually needs it for his x-box. DD doesn't have one in hers (too messy for anything else to fit in there). I managed to successfully fight off OH wanting to put one in the kitchen. docsquid
One TV in the lounge and one in the kitchen (small one) because sometimes DH is watching something we'd both like to watch while I'm cooking - in that instance I wouldn't V+ it as he would grumble about having to watch it again. Rarely use the one in the kitchen though, as neither of us watch much TV - maybe the news plus one hour a day of something else.
