daisydoo
Visited two RSPCA centres today with Rablu info. Both had not seen nor heard of them and raised concerns re living space and foxes. Have earlier in the week contacted RSPCA head office who also stated they knew nothing regarding suitability of the Rablu. Left answer-phone message and sent email to Omlet early last week but so far had no reply. Can anyone shed light on the official stance of the RSPCA's views of the Rablu as hoping to re-home rabbits from them but coming up against a brick wall. Who would be the best person to contact direct at Omlet ?

Martin B
The rablu and run is bigger than any wooden hutch I've seen.
chelsea
the insulation aspect of an eglu/rablu is a good point too....it keeps animals warm in winter and cool in summer. Also with the material its made out of its VERY easy to keep clean - thus keeping away diseases. the RSPCA should have looked it up online. I would be hopping mad if they didnt let me re-home a needy rabbit. Im not a fan of the RSPCA as they put healthy animals to sleep as i've seen in many documentaries, which is different to the Dogs trust who I have an adopted dog with. chelsea
Martin, do you realise thats TWICE in one weekend we have agreed on something.....
daisydoo
I think the Rablu is more than suitable for a couple of small rabbits otherwise I would not have purchased one. I am just dissapointed in the RSPCA's lack of conviction/information regarding suitability and Omlets non response to answering questions regarding their products. I was hoping to be able to re-home rabbits rather than purchase then from a pet shop.

chelsea
DaisyDoo. I completely agree....the Rablu is MORE than suitable for 2 lovely little bunnies in need of a home, my word - they would be living the life of luxury in that. As I said I would be completely astonished if the RSPCA refused to rehome some rabbits with you and your rablu. Good luck and keep us posted. Sheilaz
Sorry to hear what a frustrating time you've had, Daisydoo, especially with such a good intention in mind! Any progress? I do know that 'phone is likely to be the best way to contact Omlet and I'm sure they'll be very helpful. Emails seem to lurk, pile up or disappear from what I've experienced with Omlet, but their 'phone customer service is excellent. Do let us know if you do manage to get answers & then rescue rabbits, I'd be so pleased for them & you.
daisydoo
We emailed Omlet again & had a propmpt response from Johannes. Apparantly Omlet are still in discussions with the RSPCA regarding the Rablu, some centres are trialing it and will submit their findings/experiences back to Omlet. I very much doubt my local RSPCA centres will allow me to rehome Rabbits from them, as one centre manager in particular, showed a real dislike to the idea of the Rablu. Therefore I may have to start looking elsewhere for my rabbits.
Louise
You should remind them that their job is not to let a personal dislike of something stop them from putting the animals interests first I would be very rude to them at the end of the day surely getting a bunny a new good home is the most important thing
The Dogmother
And especially when the Rablu is so much easier to clean and hygienic than a wooden one - I've got both sorts.
bronze
borrow a hutch on freecycle for the RSPCA to see/inspect then just stick then in the rablu (the rabbits not the rspca) irresponsible? moi? Not as I know how good eglu/rablus are!

NorthernBird
daisydoo, we went to our local pets at home today and they've just started an adoption progrome for rabbits and gunnie pigs. They can't complaine about rabbits not having enough room in an eglu because they sell plastic hutches that are a lot smaller!
