Hi all, just making a cup of coffee, and looking at all the 'stuff' on one particular bit of my kitchen worktop. It is just as you come through the kitchen door, and EVERYBODY seems to use it as a dumping ground for bits. Screws, superglue, pens, a sample bottle of Poultry Tonic (that was me - at least it is useful), credit card bills, hair clips, you get the idea - just stuff! Have you got stuff like that, and what do you do with it? I've got a bowl on the worktop, but it is overflowing

Mine is like that too. And the dining table in the living room. Actually, looking at that it's not so bad nowadays. I have a bowl on top of the microwave for bits and bobs. And a cupboard with lots of bits and bobs. And a drawer in the hallway. You get the picture. Every now and then I have a blitz and everything is put away properly. And slowly it starts creeping back, covering everything.

I've got a tray like that but I had an estate agent round yesterday so had to clear it up. The junk is now distributed into various draws and toy boxes. I should probably just have emptied it into the bin. Although, I'm proud to say that some of it made it to the bin.

The breakfast bar bit of my kitchen worktop always gets covered in 'bits' papers, letters, pens, batteries odd bits of plastic that I have no idea where they've come from.

 

I had it lovely and clear the other day but it never lasts long.

Sounds very similar to the clutter on my breakfast bar, which is also just as you go through the kitchen door

 

It's a never ending task, as soon as I get it cleared it starts to regenerate

I'm afraid that's our kitchen table, I clear it when it there isn't enough room to lay the table but a couple of days later it's piled high with homeless junk again.

We were watching Michael McIntyres routine about his "man drawer" the other day and DS pointed out that I have several of them. Every so often I clear the junk out of the kitchen and put it in one of my man drawers. One of these days I will get round to sorting them out.

I have an area on the kitchen worktop that is used as the dumping ground for junk. At the moment there is a pot of biros (most of which work), some picture hooks, paid bills, unpaid bills, a wedding invitation and the fruit bowl.

I have just watched the man drawer sketch - absolutely brilliant!

 

My DH has a man drawer (didn't know that's what it was until this evening though ) containing just about all of the items mentioned in the sketch - including the out-of-circulation foreign currency and an old key, not to a house he no longer lives in, but to a house his sister no longer lives in!

I have a seagrass basket and tomorrow I will put all the 'stuff' that is on a section of my worktop in it...will look much better with a lid covering it

Aren't they just...I have a very large basket (with a lid ) for my 4 year olds toys

 

I have a medium size basket (with a lid ) for some of our shoes (there are 6 of us so quite a few pairs)

 

I have another medium size basket (with a lid ) for our new kittens bits n bobs

 

And another 7 dotted around the house (all with lids )

 

Can't understand why I didn't think of putting one in the kitchen for all the 'stuff' before

We have several old Quality street tins with 'stuff' in them, my DS has a floor with stuff on it and a bed and a desk and .......

 

I have got better with stuff as i have got older, but don't open any cupboards, drawers, tins etc, in our house

Oh, this has made my morning! I thought I was alone in the world with my stuff!! My three best friends houses are alway sooooo tidy, saying the can't stand stuff lying around. Maybe they are telling fibs, and just have LOADS of drawers that they just scoop everything into as soon as I come around

I cannot believe your friends cupboards are all neat and tidy...why not take a sneak while they are in the loo next time you visit...and let us know what 'stuff' is hiding in their cupboards

 

Before we went on holiday back in February I tidied every cupboard in the house because our sons neighbour was looking after our girls and I thought he may take a look around the house One afternoon he asked me via fb chat if his Mum could use the oven to bake a surprise 50th Birthday cake for their Dad Thank goodness I had cleaned it thoroughly before I left

After watching that sketch we realised that there are 2 man drawers and a man cupboard in our house .

 

You are most definitely not alone.

 

And don't even get me started on the garage...........................

Yep, we have several man drawers and cupboards here, and the house still looks like a bomb has hit it with clutter everywhere. I keep promising myself I will sort it out

haha I just watched the clip. I have a man drawer, but I'm a girl! It can be my manda drawer. It's where I keep the batteries and charger, tape measure, pizza menu, a bag of 1&2ps (I don't know why!), instructions for the new BBQ, but that will be moved to the instruction bag in the spare room, matches, various screws, empty purse, tealights, gloves, a cable and spare keys. How yet It's because it's the drawer near the back door so I sometimes put stuff from shed in there until I remember to put it in the tool box.
