jill the potter
Well we finally picked up our two newbies. My brother was visiting from South Africa and made them a box to sleep in and also a fence to divide the WIR into two. We've had them for over a week but was waiting to upload some photos before I posted on here. Well have been so busy that I've not had time, but just thought you might like to know anyway. Will post photos a.s.a.p if I can remember how! They are now 12 weeks old and have grown a lot in just a week! The older girls seemed very upset the first couple of days, Tikka made such a racket!!! The first evening when I went to check if they had gone to bed ok I was horrified to see the babies sitting on top on the mesh divider!!! We clipped their wings the next day which we thought would solve the problem then a couple of days later when I went down to them first thing they were nowhere to be seen!!!!! I ran back to the house screaming "the babies have gone" Turned out ne was hiding in the corner at the back of the eglu and the other was inside the eglu with a very disgruntled Tikka who was trying to lay!!! So I've now had to increase the height of the divider. Can't wait for intros to be over, only about another 4 weeks Will post photos soon. Yes Plum I am a slacker....not had classes for over 7 weeks, but can I tell you what I have done??????????????? Here are some photos (Hopefully)............ BTW they are called Margot & Barbara Barbara loving the new dust bath margot on right checking out divider fence Not sure why all photos are not reasonable size! Plum
Yippeeeee Mine could rise at least 4 ft vertically by scalling the mesh so I would put a lid on if you can or raise it quite high. Come on you are really slack. A week and no pictures

little brown hen
Arent they beautiful! I got three new hens last week, and on the first day my Sussex got out and sat on pergola roof til it got dark. We managed to get her in, but it was scary, she'd 'flown' onto the run roof, up onto the pergola, then glided across the fence to my next door neighbours garden, then back again before we caught her. Im looking forward like you to when I can have them all together.
jill the potter
Thanks everyone, I'm really pleased with them - on the downside though, Korma has gone downhill again which is really difficult as we go away tomorrow afternoon for a week leaving stepson in charge. Feel really bad for him and Korma, but don't know what else to do. She has been like this for over 4 months now, one minute up, then next seemingly at death's door! Think it's a problem with egg laying tackle. She's on Socal D and cod liver oil and garlic - not sure what else I can do. . On a lighter note, can't believe how quickly the new girls have grown - starting to see combs developing and also the noises they make are changing.
