Alis girls Posted September 10, 2010 Share Posted September 10, 2010 ... the strippers not the furniture I have 3 laundry bins, one in my room, one in my bathroom and one in boys bathroom. So why then do I find a jumper on dining table a pair of smelly socks on sofa a pair of boxers I stepped on and nearly skidded to my death on wooden floor worn undies left on floor, bed and anywhere but laundry bin. I live with OH, a 14 and 9 year old boys - I always wondered if the Chippendales mums all those yrs back had any idea what their boys would be doing - probably they had tidy lads - who knows. I have threatened that if it doesnt go in bin it doesnt get washed - but I know I would be the stressed one when they run out of clothes or footie kit didnt get done. Are girls as bad? Doing it themselves stops them from putting clean clothes in the dirty clothes basket that they can't be bothered to put away , using a new set of clothes every day and all of the other clothes related nonesense that goes on. In the summer I do hang it out for them and they have to pay a fine if they use the tumble drier in the summer too. Aren't I a mean Mummy It is hardly difficult though, it's not as if they have to use a washboard or anything. All they have to do is put it in the machine, turn the k"Ooops, word censored!", dry it and put it away. If there are clothes kicking around I call them to pick them up. I was & dry it,then once a week leave a pile (unfolded) on their beds for them to put away. We share laundry duties here; Rosie is as capable as me of putting it in the machine and pegging it out/using the dryer in the winter. She irons her own clothes too, which stops the large pile of ironed clothes that used to mount up on the chair in her bedroom. He has a laundry bin in his room and when full, he washes it himself. I am happy to hang it out or chuck it in the dryer, but it then gets chucked into a basket and back to his room for him to fold/iron/put away. If they don't tidy them up i hide them now . Also batteries are taken out of everything to use in the controllers . Towels... don't get me started on those, one towel every time they wash of have a shower, they are left in a damp heap on the bedroom floor! I think girls are better, I was a little angel ....honest! I hear you with regards to the game controllers. I try to turn down the stereo, and find I can't as the batteries have been removed Oh, and girls are most definatly NOT better. My YD is terrible. She has a shower, and leaves all her clothes strewn all over the bathroom, landing and her bedroom floors. When YD had her first day at senior school on Monday I decided that I would vacuum her room and make it look nice for her to come home to. I found 5 damp towels in a corner, strangely they were all folded there, she thought that they would dry like that I also found a summer holidays worth of chocolate wrappers and assorted crud under her bed and down the sides. She has now been banned from eating anything in her room for the forseeable future. My ED is reasonably well trained these days, can wash, iron etc. I do most of it though. DS is pretty bad, his floor disappears under a layer of dirty clothes and his socks get everywhere. I have tried the if it is not in the basket it doesn't get washed idea, but he just started re-wearing dirty stuff I might have to try the washing it himself route, but I still think that would only happen after a long and smelly time. I do the "sniff" test if not sure if needs washing if it pongs it does - if not sure I put back in drawer - too bad if they where the same undies 2 days running. My teenager like most teenagers does need change of top socks etc daily as otherwise one smells the phermones!! not nice. Footie kit have been tempted to leave it till stiff with mud but they are expected to turn up well turned out - I can imagine other mums muttering behind my back. Consoles - yep lost daily - not found in loo yet but it may happen - not very hygienic is it. ES's ex girlfriend was as bad - she borrowed a towel when they had been in paddling pool left it on bed and hung her outer clothes out of window - looked like the YMCA.
