Do it!!!! I managed with a four week window when I took in some strays from thie forum 18 months ago 4 weeks before I got my ex batts. Amazingly, (and sadly) I lost two just before I went back to school this year we now think to a mink, and replaced them with 4 young uns- well you all know how chicken maths works :shameonu: . Now as my eglu has my little bantams in it, the four newbies had to go in the big girls run and unbelievably it worked. I guess it is because then run is big enough so that they could get away and also that there is something to be said for 'safety in numbers'!!

We have successfully done intros in less than 3 weeks by the divide and conquer method - so if you have separate accomodation may work.

After a week of separation, we let the old girls freerange around the new ones for a couple of days, then let them out together for a couple of days, we then put the new girls in the (cube pink) and take 3 old girls out and put them in the (pink eglu), we then swap the old girls that go in the (pink eglu) every day for about 4 - 5 days , but always keeping the new girls in the (cube pink) with the remaining oldies........make sure there are plenty of perches/levels and they should be fine - we have done this for the last 3 intros and has worked well each time.

There will still be squabbles and chasing in the (cube pink) for a couple of weeks, but nothing major and having the perches makes such a difference, in fact I would say are necessary.

Good luck

:D

that's so disappointing :(

I hate waiting for chooks when you could have them. I was meant to be getting three poland girls, but then on the day we were to collect we had a call from the breeder to say they wouldn't be ready as she had forgotten and started a course of flubenvet and wouldn't let them go until it was complete. Hubby had taken an afternoon off work too so that we could drive to collect.

It's gutting.
