Griffin
Since I took hundreds of photos of the chicks this morning I decided to take some of the ladies while I was outside. Some were happier than others to pose, others disappeared Here is a select few: An as yet un-named silver laced Poland, will wait to see if it's a girl before naming it! Behold! Right at the back you can see Isobel, our French Wheaten Marans pullet. She's my hope for egg laying next year seeing as though I have more broodies and retired hens than I do actually laying! She is very nervous and very shy and this is the only photo I took of her because she disappeared into a bush soon after Infront of her is Maggie May my Pilkie with her three remaining babies from this year, two splash Cochins and a runty blue Cochin that has turned into a boy these past few days. All of the boys went to the great coop in the sky last week and now unsupressed by bully brothers, the blue has come out of it's shell Plus a cheeky Hob"Ooops, word censored!" creeps into the shot too: This Poland was going to be Dilys but I think it's a boy: Hob"Ooops, word censored!": Doris: More Cochin cuteness: Dorothy, the chicken formerly known as Mr Whatzisname who was going to be dinner until he turned into a she, a very pretty Speckled Sussex: Poppy: My beloved Maud, an ex-batt: Doris posing again: I'm currently doing battle with my four year old daughter over this one, it's Snowy her white Orpington pullet. We hatched the Orps under our broody Brahmas. I say she has enough chickens of her own but she insists Snowy stays! She's next to her blue sister who would only show me her bum, such is her respect for me: Egeltine: Pancake, one of our original girls: Olive, moulting and in need of a bath! Moulting Meredith:

Chortle Chook
Yes, keep on posting pics please I really like Hob "Ooops, word censored!" (chick + name) but also would have a soft spot for Maud and Pancake who look like real good traditional chicks: the kind my grandmother kept. Alas I only have room for tinies, but one day I intend to have a couple of Maud look alikes.
Daphne
Lovely pics You know I'm hopeless at poland sexing but each time I see Dilys I think she's a girl and I think the unknown one is a boy. Hob"Ooops, word censored!" is such a cheeky character
Griffin
Lovely pics You know I'm hopeless at poland sexing but each time I see Dilys I think she's a girl and I think the unknown one is a boy. Hob"Ooops, word censored!" is such a cheeky character But the silver laced has no comb whatsoever, Dilys has. If I'm not mistaken Dilys is sprouting streamers out the back of her crest too. With the two SL that hatched it was very obvious one was a boy, the two were totally different so I'm hoping the remaining one is a girl. It's crest is similar to Doris'. Doris was hatched last year but they have the same parents so they will look alike anyway. This strain don't seem to have very full globular crests in the girls so it's crest might be misleading. Time will tell
