Sarah71
Is it ok to give the girls porridge? I make it with water instead of milk, they had some this morning and loved it
Guest
They love it! I sometimes mix porridge oats with bio yoghurt and raisins, which goes down equally well!
Egluntyne
Mine love it. I always make it with water not milk too.
The Dogmother
Me too, mine get porridge with water, also mixed in (depending on whether I can be bothered) are; pellets, corn, Avipro, olive oil, omega seeds, raisins. They scoff the lot!
Poultry in Motion
I hadn't thought about it, but I notice you are all giving a porridge and water mix - is there a problem with giving them porridge with milk?
Sarah71
I make mine with water as I can't really have milk, it clogs my throat, so I make extra when I do mine for the girls. I think it's not good for the chickens to have dairy stuff either. I'm sure someone else will put me right if I've got it wrong
ali-s
My lot have porridge made with water. I also thought milk was not good for Chickens Lactose intolerant maybe But you can give Chickens Bio Yogurt so I'm not actually sure Great help aren't I
Popcorn
I'm not sure either.......but I use water too. I mix all of the above with mine, including grapes. You can also make a porridge using layers mash and bio yogurt. They love that too.
Eggy Bread
I wish my two liked porridge! They won't eat anything apart from the layers pellets and the odd slug that they find. I offered them some potato last night, they took one peck and turned their noses up at it! I am pleased that they tuck in to their pellets as they are good for them, it would just be nice if I could tempt them with something else. Tina C
Eggy Bread - mine did not like anything mushy like porridge or mashed potato at first but they gobble both down now. Try again sometime.
Popcorn
it would just be nice if I could tempt them with something else. Have you tried some boiled rice Steph?
Sarah71
Mine don't like bread or cabbage but go mad for mealworms and sweetcorn and sunflower seeds
